BetOnline and the rest of the Chico Poker Network are hosting a Masters’ poker series from April 28 through May 5. There’s $1.5 million in guaranteed prizes in this series over the course of 105 special events.

The Masters' Poker Series is coming to the Chico Poker Network April 28 – May 5

About the Masters’ Series

Blue Info BTN

The Masters’ Series consists of 105 series events from April 28 to May 5. There are between 10 and 14 MTTs per day with buyins from $55 to $530. The times at which they begin are spread throughout the day with the earliest starting at 12:30 a.m. ET.

Though the majority of tournaments feature No Limit Texas Hold’em gameplay, at least one MTT per day is dedicated to PLO/8.

Event Formats

The formats for the Masters’ events vary with some events being standard tournament format and others being Progressive Knockout format. Many of the events are Progressive Knockout format, which has become an increasingly popular variant to the standard bounty tournaments.

Just like in a normal bounty tournament, entrants receive a payout each time an adversary is knocked out of the game. Additionally, there’s a standard prize pool that awards winnings to the top finishers, like in any tournament. Usually, half of the buyin goes toward the bounty pool, and the other half contributes toward the standard prize pool.

Where PKOs differ from standard knockouts is that each player that eliminates another does not receive the full bounty award. Instead, they earn half of the bounty while the other half is transferred over onto their own head. This creates excitement later in the event where the bounties can reach 10 times the buyin amount or more depending on how many competitors a player has knocked out over the course of the tournament.

Notable Events

Because the tournaments in the Masters’ Series occur at widely separated times of day, there’s almost certainly something each day that will fit within your schedule. However, for the same reason, you’re unlikely to be able to participate in every series event. Therefore, we’ve taken the liberty of highlighting some of the most interesting ones below so that you can get a few ideas on the events for which you may wish to free up some time.

April 28, 1:30 p.m. ET; $109 Main Event $250,000 Guaranteed
The second scheduled event in the Masters’ Series promises a massive $250,000 prize pool with a fairly small buyin of $109. If you’re looking to jump in to a non-PKO event, this may be an excellent option.

April 29 – May 4, 6:30 p.m. ET; $109 6-max PKO $10,000 Guaranteed
From April 29 – May 4, the Masters’ Series will be running the same set of 14 daily events, including a $109 6-max PKO event featuring $10,000 in guaranteed prize money.

May 5, 1:30 p.m. ET; $109 Main Event $200,000 Guaranteed
Every week on Sunday, the Chico Poker Network hosts a Main Event, and May 5, the final day of the Masters’ Series, is no exception. However, what’s different about this one is that it guarantees $200,000: quite a step up from the usual $150,000. If you’ve enjoyed the series but have had your fill of PKOs, then this is the perfect chance to step back into the realm of non-bounty events.

May 5, 5:30 p.m. ET; $530 PKO $100,000 Guaranteed
The largest-buyin event on the roster, this one is geared toward the high rollers. The smaller expected field means it shouldn’t take too long to finish play, and with large starting bounties, you might find yourself angling to score four-figure bounty payments before the end of the event.

Leaderboard Awaits

Winners' Podium

BetOnline has allocated $20,000 for the top 20 finishers on the Masters’ Series leaderboard. Each of the top 20 finishers will receive a package worth $1,000.

It isn’t exactly clear how the leaderboard works in terms of the exact allotment of the funds or how points are awarded, but it seems as though entries will be earned by participating in any of the series events without cashing. Moreover, anyone who finishes on the bubble of any Masters’ Series tournament will receive free tournament tickets.
