Braves Betting Trends

The Braves have hit a rough patch lately, losing four of their last six games, including a tight 4-3 loss in 11 innings to the Dodgers in the series opener on Friday. Despite the skid, the Braves sit just a half-game back of the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East standings.

Atlanta’s offense, tied for fifth in the majors in runs scored, has sputtered recently, totaling just 11 runs over their last four games. In Friday’s loss, Ronald Acuña Jr. and Austin Riley each hit solo home runs, while Orlando Arcia added an RBI.

On the mound, the Braves rank seventh in team ERA. However, their usually reliable lineup has struggled, with MLB MVP odds candidate Marcell Ozuna (.310, 9 HR, 32 RBI) managing just one hit and one RBI over his last five games.

Acuña Jr. (.268, 2 HR, 8 RBI), last season’s MVP and the first-ever 40 HR-70 steal player, has also had a slow start, striking out six times in his last three games.

Dodgers Betting Trends

The Dodgers, on the other hand, have won three of their last four, including the last two, and sit atop the NL West at 21-13. They lead the majors in runs scored and rank ninth in team ERA. In Friday’s win, rookie Andy Pages played the hero with a walk-off RBI single in the 11th, his fourth hit of the game.

Teoscar Hernández hit a solo homer, while Will Smith and Shohei Ohtani each drove in a run. Mookie Betts (.363, 6 HR, 25 RBI) leads the majors in batting average but has gone hitless in three of his last four games.

Ohtani (.336, 7 HR, 20 RBI), in his first season with the Dodgers, has four RBI over his last six games.

The Dodgers have been favored in 33 games this season, winning 21 (63.6%) of those contests. When favored by -185 or more, Los Angeles is 10-6 (62.5%).

Starting Pitchers

The Braves will send right-hander Bryce Elder (1-0, 1.50 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) to the mound for just his third start of the season. In his last outing, Elder allowed two runs on four hits over 5 1/3 innings in a win.

The Braves also won his season debut, where he tossed 6 2/3 scoreless frames.

For the Dodgers, Tyler Glasnow (5-1, 2.72 ERA, 0.93 WHIP) gets the start. Glasnow leads the majors in strikeouts and is tied for the lead with five wins. In his last start, he allowed one run on two hits over six innings in a 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.

After a rough outing where he gave up six runs, Glasnow has allowed just one run total in his last two starts.

Atlanta Braves vs LA Dodgers Prediction

For the Braves to win, they’ll need their slumping offense to wake up against Glasnow. Elder will have to be sharp and hope the lineup can scratch across a few runs. If Acuña Jr. and Ozuna can get back on track, Atlanta has a chance.

The Dodgers will aim to ride the momentum from their walk-off win and the arm of Glasnow. If their league-leading offense can get to Elder early, they’ll be in good shape. Betts and Ohtani will be key to setting the tone at the plate.

In a battle of two elite teams, I give a slight edge to the Dodgers at home with Glasnow on the mound. Look for a low-scoring, tight game with the Dodgers coming out on top. The under 8.5 runs is the smart play.

ATL vs LA Picks:

  • LA Dodgers (-185)
  • Under 8.5 Runs (-115)
