Chase Cup Main Event down to final nineChase Cup Main Event down to final nine

The inaugural Chase Cup currently running at Poker8 Cebu, Philippines is one day away from crowning its first Main Event champion after six grueling days on the felt. With five starting flights on schedule, the smashing Main Event drew in a total of 495 entries with 64 players cutting a piece of the PH₱ 8,162,000 (~USD 143,000) prize pool. Day 2 saw several seasoned contenders return to the scene, only to fall short of securing a spot in the final table. Series founder himself, Chase Cokaliong topped the list by the end of the night, stacking a commanding lead to start the final games.

Joining today’s festivities is the High Roller side event which kicks off at 14:00 for a buy-in of PH₱ 50,000 (~USD 870). This will be the last of three 24K gold plated trophies to be awarded with the first one claimed by Lemmor Patulot after topping the Mystery Bounty event. Check out these highlights below.

Day 2’s games lasted nearly twelve hours before the action concluded by the fall of Alex Cruz in 10th place. Cokaliong was the man to beat from start to finish as he stood as the chip leader as early as the first break. The local superstar added in a thrilling surprise by midday, having put a PH₱ 200,000 (~USD 3,490) bounty on his head for whoever sends him to the rails. Interestingly, this was left unclaimed with his unstoppable momentum pushing him up through the ranks all the way to the end. Cokaliong bagged a towering 4,165,000 (104 BB) chip count to lead the final nine with second in the running Junnie Pamplona, not even close with 2,255,000 (56 BB).

Chip leader to start the day Jessie Leonarez sat comfortably with a healthy stack through five levels of play but suffered a terrible beat by the hands of Kenrick Lim to crush his Main Event journey. Lim joins the final games, standing right in the middle of the pack with 1,525,000 (38 BB) for a chance to claim the coveted title. Also making final table appearances are decorated players Conrad Lumaban with 1,905,000 (48 BB), 2024 PPT champion Alex Lai – 430,000 (11 BB), and Filipino bracelet winner Mike Takayama with 710,000 (18 BB). Top prize is listed at PH₱ 1,600,350 (~USD 28,045) along with the 24K gold plated Chase Cup trophy, and Rolex Submariner timepiece.
