We recap some stories you may have missed including big changes for German poker and Kevin Martin completes the sponsorship Triple Crown.
Erik Seidel remains one of the most respected players in the game for many reasons, one of which being his ability to get it quietly and stay under the radar (as much as a Super High Roller can).
That changes this week as he did his first ever podcast interview with Rounders creator Brian Koppleman.
They talked about his early days at the Mayfair club playing backgammon, his thoughts on his inclusion in Rounders, getting staked for Super High Roller tournaments and much more – it is well worth a listen.
Big names on The Orbit
Also worth your time this week is the latest episode of The Orbit, which has fast become something of an industry roundtable show.
Perhaps the most impressive line-up to date saw Phil Galfond, Daniel Negreanu, Rob Yong and former MPN boss Alex Scott join CardplayerLifeStyle founder Robbie Strazynski. It is very rare you would see all of these industry experts on the same panel together.
They discussed live poker, regulation, how to grow the game and whether online poker has reached its saturation point.
Big online poker changes in Germany
As you may have seen, German gambling regulations have changed quite dramatically this week and all the major poker operators have scrambled to change their products accordingly.
For German players we have all the details on our German site, but a brief summary is as follows:
- No more than four tables at a time
- Only one poker client can be played at a time
- A maximum of €1,000 deposited per month
- Deposits and withdrawals only via bank account
Given Germany is a world force in online poker, this might have a significant impact on the online game (and more Germans moving elsewhere to play online).
Kevin Martin joins GGPoker
This week Kevin Martin was one of the few players to do a very elusive triple – the sponsorship Triple Crown.
He is the latest streamer to join GGPoker as an ambassador after making his comeback to the game earlier this year.
Martin is a former PokerStars and partypoker professional, a feat only matched by his new GG team mates ElkY and Boris Becker (Jeff Gross has also had three sponsors – PokerStars, partypoker and 888poker).
Big smiles today because I’m officially a sponsored player and streamer for @GGPokerOfficial

Marle on Hellmuthgate
Last week the poker world got a little over excited in a discussion about whether Phil Hellmuth was good at poker. You know when we have gone too far because Marle Cordeiro will satirise in fine style when we do:
