We don’t often report from the side events, even at notable festivals like the European Poker Tour, but a back-to-back victory is always noteworthy.

Francisco Benitez from Uruguay has pulled off an impressive high stakes double at EPT Barcelona, making him one of the big winners at the festival before the Main Event even starts.

On Tuesday he won the €10,200 Mystery Bounty event for €114,080 in prize money and €110,000 in bounties. This included winning the 2nd biggest single bounty of €50,000 (the biggest bounty was €100,000 and went to final tablist Joris Ruijs), with 11 other scalps along the way.

With his winnings he jumped straight into the €25,000 High Roller event and managed to take that one down too. He scored €341,565 after an ICM deal with heads-up opponent Ramiro Petrone.

The festival continues with the €1,100 Estrellas Poker Tour Main Event and a €100,000 Super High Roller this week, with several more Mystery Bounty events and the €5,300 EPT Main Event starting next Monday.
