Jamie Foxx receives the Spotlight during the Film Awards Gala of the 31st annual Palm Springs International Film Festival in Palm Springs, Calif., on January 2, 2020.
The MGM brand knows great on-screen talent when they see it.
Before their successful foray into the world of hotels and casinos, MGM built its name as a legendary Hollywood film studio through the 1920s to 1950s. Though their portfolio has long since diversified by launching some of the top hotels and casinos in the world, they’ve never forgotten the importance of putting on a great show.
That’s why it should come as no surprise that their sportsbook brand, BetMGM, has enlisted the talents of A-list actor Jamie Foxx. As one of Hollywood’s biggest and brightest stars, Foxx is one of a handful of celebrities that are taking sports betting ad campaigns to the next level.

Jamie Foxx: Hollywood’s Most Versatile Entertainer?
The trajectory of Jamie Foxx’s career in Hollywood in nothing short of spectacular.
Born and raised in Texas, Foxx’s original dream was to play for the Dallas Cowboys after a stellar high school football career. While that plan eventually fell through, Foxx had a natural comedic ability and started sharpening his skills as a standup in the early 1990s—which is when he really started to earn a name in the entertainment industry.
After conquering comedy and appearing in the beloved ’90s sketch show In Living Color, Foxx proved he was no one-trick pony after starring in the 1999 Oliver Stone film Any Given Sunday as the beloved egotistical quarterback Willie Beaman.
This role would lead Foxx down a successful path as a serious actor in films like Ali and Collateral. In 2004, he portrayed famous soul and jazz musician Ray Charles in the biopic Ray—which earned him his first Academy Award victory.
In addition to his work as an actor, Foxx is also a successful R&B singer. He even won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals thanks to his 2009 hit single “Blame It” featuring T-Pain.
BetMGM Brings Foxx Into the Fold
Given his success as an entertainer, Foxx made perfect sense for BetMGM’s new campaign that started in 2020—The King of Sportsbooks.
BetMGM tagged Foxx for the new ad campaign and brought him in to appear in a number of promotional material for the company including commercials and other digital assets.
“Jamie is an exceptional talent and we’re proud to have him partner with us on our new campaign for BetMGM,” said BetMGM’s Chief Marketing Officer Matt Prevost shortly after the deal was signed. “The King of Sportsbooks campaign is the next step in the evolution of the BetMGM brand and Jamie brings a unique ability to tell our story in an incredibly creative and entertaining way. BetMGM exists at the intersection of sports and entertainment and Jamie fits this positioning perfectly; we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him to the BetMGM family.”
Since the start of the deal, Foxx has appeared in a number of BetMGM-branded marketing efforts and even though his large following as a celebrity is strong—what he brings to the table as a well-rounded entertainer is invaluable.
