What happens when you give a Super High Roller a massive chip lead and a bit of rungood at the WSOP Main Event final table? Koray Aldemir as your 2021 World Champion.

That doesn’t actually tell the whole story as we also saw one of the great recreational player performances from George Holmes, the runner-up. He played fearlessly, showed tremendous instincts and became a fan favourite at the finale. Not bad at all considering he staged a comeback from one big blind on Day 2, which he eventually parlayed into $4,300,000.

But the year belongs to nosebleed star Aldemir who put on a clinic at this final table. He may well go down as the best player to ever win the Main Event in the modern era. His career earnings now stand at $20,334,110 with his $8 million score:

“It’s the one tournament family and friends know of basically. It does mean a lot to me to win it,” said in his post game interview.

That does not conclude the World Series of Poker, it continues throughout the weekend and the World Series of Poker Europe begins tomorrow.
