enn National is renaming its Meadows Casino: starting Oct. 15, the Washington, Pennsylvania gaming facility will be known as Hollywood Casino at the Meadows.

“This is more than a name change,” said Rahul Kaushik, vice president of marketing, according to Observer-Reporter. “This is a key milestone in the transition to our re-branding. Hollywood Casino is the flagship brand of Penn National.”

Penn National Gaming first took over the facility in 2019. The company obtained the operations of The Meadows as part of the $2.8 billion acquisition of rival operator Pinnacle.

The new name isn’t the only change that has taken place at the gambling venue. New amenities have been added since Penn National took over, including a sportsbook, the H Lounge, casino floor upgrades, and layout and machines modernization. The food offering has also changed, with new restaurant options now available.

In order to celebrate the Hollywood Casino at the Meadows re-branding, the casino has a series of celebrations planned for Oct. 16, featuring live local entertainment, food trucks and prizes. The new name will officially be unveiled at the casino entrance at 9 a.m. Fireworks will be launched once the sun sets, and the casino floor will see a giveaway including a Mercedes-Benz car as the grand prize, from 5:30-8 p.m.

“We want to celebrate with people,” added Kaushik on the new name. “We want to recognize people that got us to this place.” Other giveaways and promotions are scheduled for the remainder of the month.

While the new branding will affect the casino as we know it, one thing that won’t change is the name of the racetrack, which opened in 1963: it is set to remain the same. “The history and tradition of this being The Meadows will continue on,” said the VP of marketing. “It’s part of our DNA. It’s part of our core.”

Penn National will also rebrand the current sportsbook to a Barstool Sportsbook, scheduled to begin early next year. This is also part of the company’s plan to make the venue recognizable as one of its flagship properties.

The operator is already using the Hollywood Casino brand at its two other Pennsylvania properties and for another one expected to open this year. Penn National owns another Pennsylvania racetrack-casino in Dauphin County, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course; and in August it opened Hollywood Casino York as the state’s second mini-casino. Hollywood Casino Morgantown is set to open by December in Berks County.
