A rap video posted by a murder suspect refers to a fatal shooting he committed two years ago, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Kenjuan McDaniel, 25, faces a charge of open murder with a deadly weapon in the 2021 death of Randall Wallace, 32. Police have submitted into evidence a video that McDaniel posted to YouTube in which he appears to boast about the killing.
According to the arrest report, first shared by KLAS-TV, the now-deleted video featured McDaniel re-enacting Randall’s murder in a way that “was consistent with evidence at the scene” and referred to his victim as “Midget,” which happened to be Wallace’s nickname.
Also submitted into evidence was the gun used in the shooting. It was recovered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives in Los Angeles in April 2023. Ballistics testing showed a match for the one used to commit the murder.
The car used in the homicide, which was caught on surveillance video, also matched a vehicle owned by McDaniel’s girlfriend, police said.
According to witnesses, the shooting occurred on Sept. 18, 2021 at an apartment complex near Lake Mead and Jones boulevards. Wallace was pronounced dead at the scene. Daniel and Wallace were involved in an additional altercation two days before the shooting, according to the arrest report, which redacted the details of the altercation.
McDaniel — whom the arrest report identifies as a known gang member with a history of arrests dating back to 2018 — was arrested again on Aug. 29, 2023.
He is being held at the Clark County Detention Center, and is due to appear in Las Vegas Justice Court for a bail hearing on Sept. 7, 2023.
