  • The 45th edition of the Ryder Cup tees off Friday, September 26th
  • Team USA is the -145 favorite to win for just the third time in the last eight iterations of the Ryder Cup
  • See the odds to win the 2025 Ryder Cup and the best bet

The always entertaining and heated Ryder Cup is back, with the United States hosting the biennial event at Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York. Two years ago, Europe easily took care of their foes, dispatching USA 16 1/2 to 11 1/2 points in Italy, and they have the exact same team, with the exception of Rasmus Hojgaard replacing his twin brother Nicolai.

Unlike the Presidents Cup, which is played over four days, this event boasts a three-day battle, with Friday featuring foursomes competition (more commonly known as alternate shot), then four-ball matches in the afternoon. Saturday is the same format, then Sunday sees singles action. In 2023, Team USA was a -110 favorite entering the tournament, but fell to the +120 underdog Europeans. This time around, the States are favored even more as they attempt to secure the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Odds to Win 2025 Ryder Cup

The last time this event was on home soil for the States, they waxed Europe 19-9 at Whistling Straits in 2021. The last five matches have been blowouts, with the closest duels (2014, 2023) resulting in a five point victory. The home squad has been victorious five instances in a row and eight of the last nine times.

American Squad Stacked With Talent

American captain Keegan Bradley has assembled a very strong group, based on the world golf rankings. Seven of the top-ten golfers on the planet are on his squad, with the other three (McIlroy, Fleetwood, MacIntyre) suiting up for Europe. A pair of Bradley’s captains picks were spent on two-time major champions in Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa, and Euro captain Luke Donald spent three captain’s selections in majors winners Jon Rahm (two majors), Shane Lowry and Matt Fitzpatrick.

This year, three majors were won by Americans (Scheffler PGA Championship and Open Championship, Spaun U.S. Open), while Rory McIlroy completed the career grand slam at the Masters in April. Europe team chemistry is off the charts with only one new player from the victorious 2023 team, with everyone else running it back.

Past Ryder Cup Results

All-time, the United States has the better record, going 27-15-2, but Europe has been the better team since the 2000s, winning eight of the eleven battles in this fierce rivalry.

2025 Ryder Cup Pick

Last Ryder Cup Team USA was embarrassed, and they vowed to do things differently by installing active player Keegan Bradley as captain. In terms of recent history, the safer bet would be selecting USA to capture the Ryder Cup on home soil. However, I like the value in selecting Europe at +150. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” applies very well for Europe with a nearly identical roster from their 2023 triumph.

Seven different Americans won on the PGA Tour in 2025, with six Europeans doing the same. This is an incredibly close battle, yet for whatever reason plenty of blowouts have happened in recent Ryder Cup history. Europe last won in America in 2012, compared to USA last winning in Europe in 1993. I’m going with the underdogs to pull off the upset in what hopefully will be a tight Ryder Cup.
