The Spanish government has appointed former national boss Vicente del Bosque as head of a new committee supervising the country’s RFEF football federation after months of turmoil, government spokesperson Pilar Alegria said on Tuesday.

In 2010, Del Bosque led an inconic Spain side to lift the country’s only World Cup title, as well as European Championship titles in 2008 and 2012.

Prior to his success at international level, Del Bosque had coaching spells at Real Madrid and Besiktas. As a player, he made over 400 appearances for Madrid.
