The Pittsburgh Steelers remain one of the few undefeated teams in the NFL, which has caused their Super Bowl odds to lower.

In Week 6, the Steelers were set for a tough test against the pesky Cleveland Browns. However, Pittsburgh made it look easy, dominating Cleveland to win 38-7. Even though they are 5-0, many pundits aren’t believing the hype due to their strength of schedule.

Following their win, FanDuel updated their Super Bowl odds, which sees the Steelers being tied for fifth, but do they deserve to be there?

What Were Pittsburgh’s Odds?

Before the 2020 NFL season kicked off, the Pittsburgh Steelers saw their Super Bowl 55 odds at +2300. However, after their lackluster Week 1 win over the New York Giants, their odds actually went to +2500, the highest it has been all season.

As the Steelers continued to pick up wins, entering Week 6 their odds were at +1300, so following the blowout win over the Browns, their odds went down to +1200.

Have The Steelers Benefited From a Weak Schedule?

Despite being 5-0, it is actually quite easy to poke holes in the Steelers’ record and the next two weeks should really prove how good they are.

They started off the season against the New York Giants, who finally won their first game of the season  in Week 6. They then played the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Cleveland Browns. Really, only the Browns have shown themselves to be a potential playoff team.

Currently, through six weeks, the combined record of the Steelers’ opponents is 9-19-1. In the next two weeks, they will be on the road against the Tennesse Titans and the Baltimore Ravens. Bettors can really see if these Steelers are legit or if they have benefited from a weak schedule.

Can Pittsburgh’s Defense Lead Them All The Way?

You can poke holes all you want in Pittsburgh’s strength of schedule, however, you can’t poke holes in their defense.

Through five games, they have recorded an incredible 24 sacks and eight interceptions. The entire defense has been solid from T.J. Watt and Stephon Tuitt rushing the quarterback and Steven Nelson playing solid in the secondary. Watt has also contributed to pass coverage, which has been a big step up in his game this season.

The Steelers defense could very well be the best in the league and they have been able to get turnovers and stops to help Ben Roethlisberger and the offense succeed.

Who’s The Best Bet?

I do think the Pittsburgh is one of the best teams in the NFL, though I’m not sold on them being one of the top-five, as I do think the strength of schedule is a major concern for bettors.

Right now, the best bet is the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks are never out of the game and can always rally back. Having Russell Wilson passing to DK Metcalf has also been a difference-maker this season. Seattle at +800 is a solid bet as their upcoming games against the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills are all winnable. Even if they go 2-1 out of their next three, don’t be surprised to see their odds go down to the +600 area.

Pick: Seattle Seahawks (+800)
