The festivities run from Aug. 18 to 25 and consist of 75 events with $500,000 guaranteed. The Summer KnockOut Series runs on CoinPoker From Aug. 18 - 25

CoinPoker and Crypto

Logos of Crypto-Currencies

Before proceeding any further with details about the Summer KnockOut Series, it’s appropriate to take a minute to go over how things work at CoinPoker and how it differs from a standard online poker site.

All games here, including the tourneys in the Summer KnockOut Series, are denominated in Tether (USDT), which is also referred to by the symbol “₮.” This is a crypto-currency that has its value tied to that of the U.S. dollar. Tether thus combines the benefits of cryptos with the pricing stability of the dollar.

When we refer to buyin amounts or guarantees at CoinPoker as being of a certain dollar value, we’re really talking about Tether. Because the value of Tether is nearly identical to that of the dollar, this distinction doesn’t really make a difference.

Summer KnockOut Series General Info

Blue Info Button

The most salient fact about this series – and the reason for its name – is that each of the 75 events is a bounty tournament. They include both standard bounties as well as progressive knockouts. The percentage of the buyins devoted to the bounty pool varies and reaches as high as 90% in some events.

Unfortunately, there are no tournaments that feature Pot Limit Omaha or 5 Card Omaha gameplay. All events are for NL Hold’em only. Nevertheless, there’s some variety in formats present, including deep-stacked and shallow-stacked tourneys, turbos, and 6-max MTTs.

Buyins range from ₮1 to ₮5,000 with guarantees spanning the gamut from ₮75 to ₮175,000. There’s thus something for players of every bankroll level.

Schedule

There are seven or nine tournaments running every day of the series except for the two Sundays, which host 16 and 15 events respectively. Each event is referred to in the schedule by the prefix “SKOS” followed by a number and one of the letters “L,” “M,” “H,” or “S.” Events with the same number tend to be similar with the letter at the end designating the stake level.

All tournaments take place at the same times every day: 1:05 p.m., 2:05 p.m., and 3:05 p.m. Additionally, on Sundays, there are tournaments starting at 12:05 p.m. and 4:05 p.m. The fact that there are only a few times of day that tourneys are scheduled for means that several of them will begin simultaneously.

Main Events

There are three Main Events in the Summer KO Series. They all take place at the same time: 3:05 p.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 25. They’re designated SKOS 27-L, SKOS 27-M, and SKOS 27-H. Buyins are ₮2, ₮20, and ₮200 with corresponding guarantees of ₮600, ₮4,000, and ₮50,000.

One half of each buyin goes directly to the bounty pool for these events. This means that the rake comes at the exclusive expense of the normal prize pool, which is therefore smaller than the bounty pool.

There’s 1 hour and 36 minutes of late registration for all three of these Mains during which up to five re-entries are permitted. Play starts 100bb deep, and levels are nine-minutes long.

Other Events

With 75 tournaments over just eight days, you might find the action a bit overwhelming. Fortunately, we have identified a few of the most interesting events that you can keep your eye on in case you don’t wish to sample every single tourney.

Sunday, Aug. 18, 2:05 p.m. ET, SKOS 3-S, ₮5,000-buyin Super(fly) High Roller, ₮175,000 Guaranteed
The single largest buyin as well as guaranteed prize pool of the series, this one is certain to see some big money flying around even if participation is minimal.

Thursday, Aug. 22, 3:05 p.m. ET; SKOS 3-L, 3-M, 3-H; ₮1, ₮10, ₮100 buyin Brawl; ₮75, ₮500, ₮2,500 GTD
These three tournaments devote a full 90% of the prize pool toward bounties and have only enough money left over to pay just the final table. Regardless of your preferences or previous history of play, such an unusual payout arrangement is worthy of your attention because you might not encounter anything like this again in future.

Sunday, Aug. 25, 3:05 p.m. ET, SKOS 27-S, ₮2,000 buyin Summer KO Series High Roller, ₮75,000 GTD
Coinciding in time with the three Main Events, this is a great option if you’re just itching for some high-stakes action while the series winds down to its conclusion. The general format is the same as the Mains, so it should be too hard to add this to your roster if you’re already playing one or more of them.

Added Value

Pot of Gold

CoinPoker has set up several ways that it’s adding extra cash to the proceedings. This makes the Summer KO Series an ever more attractive proposition.

Leaderboard

There’s a series leaderboard with $6,000 in Crypto Series of Online Poker entries up for grabs. Points toward the leaderboard are determined both by your finishing position and the number of players you knock out in a given tournament according to the following formula:

Score = log(prize poll)/ √(final position/number of entries) + (knockouts * 5)

The top 20 on the leaderboard will receive the following tickets:

  • 1st: $1,000 CSOP entry
  • 2nd: $800 CSOP entry

Free Main Event Seats

There are certain events named “Superfly” throughout the Summer KnockOut Series. CoinPoker has decided to reward those who are able to achieve the greatest number of knockouts in each of them.

Whoever knocks out the most opponents in any Superfly tournament with a buyin of ₮2 or ₮3 will get a ticket to the ₮20 Main Event. For Superfly events with buyins of ₮20 and ₮30, the reward is entry into the ₮200 Main Event. Finally, those who eliminate the most other players in Superflys with buyins of ₮200 or ₮300 will get a seat in the ₮2,000-buyin Main Event.

The total number of players eliminated is tracked per entry. If there’s a tie, the individual with the best finishing position will get the ticket.

Depositor Freerolls

CoinPoker has decided to run a couple of freerolls for everyone who deposits $75 or more between Aug. 5 and Aug 19. The first freeroll, for those who made a deposit from Aug. 5 at noon and Aug. 12 at 10:00 a.m. GMT, has already occurred.

The second Summer KnockOut Series Free Roll is scheduled for noon GMT on Aug. 19. Anyone who makes a qualifying deposit from Aug. 12 at 10:00 a.m. to Aug. 19 at 10:00 a.m. GMT will receive an entry.

The freeroll takes place Aug. 19 at noon GMT. The format is all-in every hand, so the tournament won’t last very long. There are $3,000 worth of tickets to be distributed with the smallest one, given to the 67th through 100th finishers, being worth ₮10. The most valuable ticket, worth ₮200, will be awarded to the first and second place players.
