The $3,300 main event at the Texas Poker Open kicked off on Wednesday with the first starting flight from the Champions Club in Houston. PokerGO was on hand to catch all the action for the $2 million guaranteed event, with one massive hand really standing out – ending the day early for a couple of notable players.

The Hand
With blinds at 300-600 with a 600 big blind ante, David Kim put in a raise to 1,700 with A
A
. Longtime circuit regular Ray Qartomy called with A
10, former Card Player Player of the Year Eric Baldwin called on the button with pocket fours, Sang Ngo called from the small blind with pocket fives, and actress and part-time poker player Arden Cho came along in the big blind with 5 4.
Despite all of the players sharing cards, the flop hit almost everyone, coming down K 5
4 and ensuring fireworks. Everyone checked to Baldwin, who bet 3,000. Little did he know he was already drawing dead with his bottom set.
Ngo called with middle set and Cho raised to 15,700 with her bottom two pair. Kim then raised all in for 45,000 with his aces and Qartomy folded. Baldwin moved the last of his 49,500 chips in as well.
Ngo had a 90% chance to win the hand with his set of fives and took some time to consider his options and “Hollywood” a bit with Cho still left to act behind him. The last of his 46,300 chips soon went in the pot, and despite all the action, Cho convinced herself to go with her hand as well.
All four players turned over their cards, with Baldwin and Cho seeing the bad news and not bothering to wait for the turn and river to come out. With Qartomy folding the A, Ngo just had to avoid the last ace in the deck to scoop the massive 234,800 pot, although Kim picked up extra life with the 2 on the turn, giving him more outs to a wheel.
Incredibly, the case ace hit the river, and Kim more than quadrupled up. It was a brutal beat for Ngo, who at least was able to salvage some of his stack by winning the side pot, but ultimately could not survive the day.
Kim went on to bag up 305,000 as one of only six players remaining and now advances to day 2 beginning on Sunday after seven more starting flights.
