WATCH: Largest Pot In ‘High Stakes Poker’ History

Big pots are the norm on PokerGO’s High Stakes Poker, but the show broke a record on last week’s episode with a pot worth almost $1 million.

The action featured high-stakes pros Andrew Robl and Santhosh Suvarna, who were seated in a game with blinds of $1,000-$2,000 with a $2,000 big blind ante.

The hand in question saw Robl raising the action to $16,000 with 5 4. Suvarna, who already had $4,000 in the middle after a straddle, reraised to $54,000 with A K.

Robl made the call, pushing the pot to $112,000. Suvarna had a 59% chance to win the pot before the flop, but that changed considerably when the flop fell 4 4 2. Robl checked his three of a kind and that brought a bet of $45,000 from Suvarna, which he called.

According to the Card Player Poker Odds Calculator, Robl had a 99% chance to win the hand. However, the turn brought the K, increasing Suvarna’s chances to just over 4.5% with two kings still remaining in the deck. Robl once again checked, and this time Suvarna checked behind.

Incredibly, the K fell on the river – giving Suvarna a runner-runner boat.

“A dream flop for Robl turns into a nightmare,” commentator AJ Benza said on the PokerGO broadcast.

Perhaps it wouldn’t have been so painful had Robl not decided on an overbet. Unfortunately for him, he bet $300,000, prompting an all-in from Suvarna for $95,000 more. Robl looked a bit pained at that news but was priced in.

Suvarna raked in a pot of $992,000, officially the largest scooped pot in High Stakes Poker’s 12-season run. The previous record was held by Tom Dwan, who took down $919,600 against Barry Greenstein back in season 5.

There was a pot worth $998,800 in season 4 between Patrik Antonius and Sammy Farha, but was split up after running the turn and river four times. There was also a pot of $1,227,900 later that year between Guy Laliberte and David Benyamine, however the two negotiated a deal that saw the pot reduced to $238,900.

Despite the recent setback, Robl remains the biggest winner in televised cash game history, according to Highroll Poker. The tracking site reports that the Michigan native is up more than $6.3 million across 61 appearances on various poker shows and livestreams, with a $1.5 million lead over Dwan in second place.

High Stakes Poker has been home to numerous other massive pots through the years. The show’s early days saw an amazing hand in which Gus Hansen hit quads against Daniel Negreanu. Both players flopped a set, but Hanson went on to hit quads on the turn to Negreanu’s full house.

Another massive hand from those early days saw Brad Booth run an unreal bluff with 2s 4s that eventually saw poker legend Phil Ivey fold pocket kings.
