Cards are back in the air at one of the Midwest’s favorite poker spots. The Potawatomi Casino in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, not only unveiled a new poker room on Friday, but also a new sportsbook as well.
The two new spaces are part of a wider $190 million renovation project that began in May 2022. The new poker room features 14 tables and the debut looked to have attracted a full house of rounders getting on the day one action, including top poker pros Matt Berkey and Jamie Kerstetter, along with vlogger Jaman Burton.
Casino management sees the new venues as key additions to the property.
“This is a 33-year venture that comes from a small bingo hall and now here we are, continuing to build for the future,”, CEO and general manager Dominic Ortiz said. “We’re building for the future of gaming, sports, music, entertainment, our city, and most importantly, building for the future of the Forest County Potawatomi Community and tribe.”
Back In Business
The original poker room was closed in early 2023. Potawatomi has long been a favorite stop for poker players in the Midwest and has hosted numerous tournament events through the years, including stops on the Mid-States Poker.
The custom-designed room is spacious and well-lit. The facility is open 20 hours a day, from 8 am to 4 am. The property now uses the Bravo Poker Live app as well for players to get on wait lists and to check out games that are running.

Sports bettors will find a new 2,000-square-foot LED screen, a broadcast booth with a three-camera system for live events, and an additional 20 TV screens in the sportsbook.
The venue features betting kiosks, several betting windows, and seating for more than 200 people, who can watch as many as 30 games at once. The poker room is located next to the sportsbook, giving players access to the book’s food and beverage options, which includes 40 beers on tap.
The Wisconsin casino isn’t the only property unveiling a new poker room. The Venetian in Las Vegas also recently announced plans for a major expansion for the largest poker room in Las Vegas.
