Leo Jokura

The 888poker XL Spring Series has reached its final stage, with only a handful of events yet to crown their worthy champions. The $250 RAKELESS Mystery Main Event is one of those tournaments. It has reached its final table, and there’s a familiar name there, that of 888poker ambassador Leo “KaizenStyle” Jokura.

Only eight of the 1,904 entrants remain in contention to become the $500,000 guaranteed RAKELESS Mystery Main Event champion. As predicted, this tournament overlaid, doing so to the tune of $24,000 despite Jokura firing 12 bullets across various flights.

Jokura sits down at the final table with the equivalent of 42 big blinds, which are enough to place him fourth at the restart. The Brazilian ace has already helped himself to $6,416 worth of mystery bounties, and now has his sights set on the $34,525 first-place prize.

Malta’s “overbet13” is the overnight chip leader, courtesy of bagging up 95 big blinds. 888poker regulars “CPU0r” and “neverback” are also present and correct at the final table. They resume their quest for glory with 83 and 21 big blinds, respectively.

The final table shuffles up and deals at 7:00 p.m. BST on May 12. 888poker’s Twitch channel is streaming the final table action, with cards-up coverage, on an hour delay. PokerNews will have a recap of the final table on May 13.

“QuietMike” Crowned Mini Main Event Champion

888poker XL Spring Series Mini Main

A late rush of entrants in the $25 Mystery Mini Main resulted in a 2,215-strong field battling it out for the largest slice of the $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. When the dust finally settled on the Day 2 action, almost five hours after play began, Jersey’s “QuietMike” emerged victoriously and did so with a $3,995 haul.

Although “QuietMike” gets to bask in the glory of victory, their prize was not the largest of the tournament. Thirteenth-place finisher “rubka5” of Ukraine won the largest prize, one weighing in at $5,264. The Ukrainian opened the envelope containing the $5,000 jackpot bounty before busting; they collected $5,264 in total.

Denmark’s “Alexhest383” was the first of the eight finalists to bow out. They missed out on a four-figure score by $1, taking home $999 with bounties included.

Brazil’s “leosouza9” and Austria’s “flexPI” were the next to be relieved of their stack before the eliminations of “AlbiLP7” and “adipop16” left the final table with only three players.

Those three became two when the United Kingdom’s “Johnnybray576” saw their deep run end in a third-place finish worth $1,942. Germany’s “Blindfish87” and “QuietMike” locked horns heads-up for the title and the lion’s share of the $50,000 prize pool.

A deal was struck during the heads-up encounter. Judging by the official payouts, “Blindfish87” was leading at the time because their $3,056 main prize pool prize was larger than the $2,916 awarded to “QuietMike.” However, “QuietMike” came from behind and banked the final two mystery bounties, taking their total take-home pay to $3,995, slightly more than the runner-up’s $3,615.
