Despite the 2026 World Series of Poker being barely two days old, there are plenty of bad beats to go about.
The latest player to head to the rail with a tail of woe is none other than GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu, who was sent to the rail in Event #2: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em 8-Handed agonizingly short of the money.
Aces No Good for Negreanu
With the money bubble rapidly approaching, Negreanu looked set to score his first cash of the summer. However, the cards had something else in store for him, running pocket aces into the flopped set of Ryuta Nakai.
Nakai had bet on a 10♠7♠4♣6♣ runout, with Negreanu shoving over the top. Nakai snap-called with 10♥10♦ for top set against the A♣A♦ of Negreanu.
The river 9♣ bricked and Negreanu was sent to the rail. The bubble soon burst in that event, guaranteeing 86 players a $9,947 min-cash.
Negreanu at the 2025 WSOP

Last year, it took Negreanu until Event #9 to record his first cash, but it was a doozy. He narrowly missed out on an eighth WSOP bracelet with a runner-up finish in the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo Championship.
That was one of 13 live cashes for Negreanu at the Series, and one of three six-figure cashes the poker legend scored.
