Alex Foxen

High-stakes crusher Alex Foxen dropped down stakes this week but stayed true to form as he took down the $1,600 buy-in Major Series of Poker: The Tour (MSPT) Poker Bowl X at Venetian Las Vegas for $165,235.

The event in Las Vegas drew 740 runners for a prize pool of $1,050,800. That included many top local pros, including 2023 WPT Championship winner Dan Sepiol ($20,519), WSOP bracelet winner Nick Palma (5th – $53,495) and 2024 WSOP Main Event final tablist Joe Serock (3rd – $92,076).

The MSPT Poker Bowl X, a special event taking place in conjunction with Super Bowl Weekend, featured a $1 million guarantee and closed out a series that ran Feb. 4-7.

Another Title for Foxen

Foxen, one of the most successful players on the high-stakes circuit, has had a great start to 2026. In January, he won his 12th PokerGO Tour (PGT) title as he took down a $10,100 event at the PGT Last Chance Series $232,400.

Just a few weeks later and Foxen has claimed his second live victory of the year after defeating heads-up opponent Miquel Maines, who earned $122,698 for his runner-up finish.

Foxen’s two victories set up a strong year for the high-stakes crusher. He had five live victories in 2025, the first of which took place in April 2025.

The victory marks Foxen’s first MSPT title since 2018 when he won the $5,000 DeepStack Championship Poker Series in the same venue for $239,000. His heads-up opponent in that event? None other than his then-girlfriend and future wife Kristen Foxen.

According to MSPT updates, Sepiol was the first to go at the final table after losing most of his stack to Hunter Cichy, who laddered up another spot before going out in seventh place. Next out was Aaron Klausman, followed by bracelet winner Nick Palma, who was eliminated by fellow New Yorker Foxen.

After the eliminations of Justin Lapka and Serock, Foxen entered heads-up play with a significant chip deficit before turning things around and eventually securing the victory. In the final hand, Foxen flopped bottom set against the top pair of Maimes, who check-called all the way down before seeing the bad news from the high-stakes crusher.

In addition to the six-figure score and his second MSPT title, Foxen also won entry into the $3,500 MSPT Championship Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open (RRPO) later this year in Hollywood, Florida.

“It’s really great to see the MSPT hosting bigger events and expanding their buy-ins, it should be a fun one,” Foxen told MSPT.

What’s Coming Up?

There have been plenty of highlights already on the MSPT trail this year, including June Kim turning down a chop and then seeing victory in the MSPT Diamond Poker Championship in Arizona for $397,950.

After wrapping up at Venetian Las Vegas, the MSPT is headed to JACK Cleveland for the Ohio Poker State Championship taking place Feb. 10-16.
