Week 7 in the CFL looks eerily similar to the previous week for the Alouettes (4-1) and Stampeders (2-3). The two teams will square off the second time in eight days, after Montreal took their first meeting of the season 37-30. Despite the one-score final outcome, the Als were in complete control of that contest from start to finish, and online sportsbooks expect a repeat performance this afternoon. Montreal is a small road favorite in Calgary, in a contest that has shootout written all over it.

Alouettes vs Stampeders Predictions

The Als and Stamps Week 6 contest went exactly as expected. Montreal jumped out to an early lead thanks to its ruthlessly efficient passing game, and cruised to 37 points versus a porous Calgary defense. I’m expecting a similar result today, which leads me to taking Montreal -1.5.

The Stampeders offense is strong enough to punch back, but with key injuries in their receiving corps, they don’t have the ceiling to keep pace with the mighty Als.

Davis Alexander was brilliant yet again last time out, completing 22-of-30 passes, for 301 yards and a score. He’s now gone 304 attempts without throwing an interception, which is the second longest streak in league history, and just 19 attempts shy of the record. Alexander is currently one of the favorites to win to win Most Outstanding Player over at BetMGM Alberta, and is an incredible 15-1 in his career as a starter.

The Montreal passing attack features two of the league’s leading receivers, Tyson Philpot and Tyler Snead, with the former on pace to set the CFL record for most receiving yards. Philpot racked up his fourth consecutive 120+ receiving yard game last week, hauling in 9 of 10 targets for 132 yards and a score. He’s been toying with enemy secondaries all season, and should have no problem replicating his production from last week against one of the league’s worst secondaries.

Speaking of the Calgary defense, only the Toronto Argonauts have allowed more points so far this season. The Stamps are yielding 35.2 points per game, and coughed up 411 yards of offense to Montreal a week ago.

As for the Calgary offense, QB Vernon Adams Jr. is carrying this team on his shoulders at the moment, fresh off another 3 TD performance. Adams Jr. is tied for the league-lead in passing TD entering the week, but could be without three receivers for this matchup. Number one wideout Reggie Begelton is out, while Erik Brooks and Tevin Jones may sit as well, lowering the Stamps offensive ceiling.

The matchup isn’t incredibly imposing, as the Montreal defense is allowing 30.8 points per game, but it should be noted plenty of that production has occurred in garbage time, after the Als had already put the game away.

The Alouettes offense is operating at a efficiency level the Stampeders defense can’t handle, and Alexander will have all the time in the world to operate in the pocket. Montreal has surrendered just four sacks and yields the league’s lowest pressure rate, which has allowed their QB to eviscerate opposing secondaries.

Pace is also working in favor of a big output for the Als today. This game projects for a 112 plays and over 861 yards of total offense per advanced models. Another reason to be optimistic about lots of points tonight, is the fact that touchdowns are up 26 per cent this season in the CFL over 2025.
