Rising international travel costs and a volatile geopolitical environment have prompted Asia Gaming Brief to cancel the 2026 ASEAN Gaming Summit and reschedule the conference for 15–17, 2027.

The organizer said current conditions, including states of emergency in several jurisdictions, led to a reassessment of the event’s timing. The , first launched in 2017, would have reached its 8th edition in 2026. That edition will now take place in 2027.

Participant input factored into timing

Attendees had previously requested a change in schedule from the traditional slot to May. The company said the shift in preferences, together with external pressures, informed the decision to pause the 2026 event.

“Instead of eroding the industry in 2026, we’re breaking the cycle by taking a proactive stance and using the opportunity to reshape the experience in 2027,” said Luis Pereira, Managing Director of Asia Brief.

Program revisions planned for 2027 edition

Preparations for the 2027 will focus on refining several elements of the event. These include personalized networking opportunities arranged prior to the conference to support business matching, on-site consultancy services for both new businesses and established enterprises to address procedural requirements, and an international conference designed to provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss industry strategy across evolving regional frameworks.

The program will also include workshop sessions focused on operational challenges and practical solutions, along with limited showcases intended to facilitate direct engagement between participants and attendees.

“As organizers, we’re excited to have the time and resources allocated to develop an event a step ahead of the curve. The team is engaged with the challenge!” Pereira added.
