Any great fighter will tell you, knocking people out is fun, but sometimes, just sometimes, it’s fun to get punched in the face. That’s exactly what happened to us last week. We got punched in the face. Hard. But here’s the thing, we’re great fighters. We must be because I kind of liked it. If we’re being honest, I’ve never felt more alive. It’s motivating to get rocked like that. In fact, I was so motivated that I didn’t sleep until I found two bets for this Saturday that have no chance of losing. We’re going to start nice and early this week with the Alabama/Missouri game at noon. I don’t always like to go after the noon slate, but if we’re being honest, this one was just too good to pass up. We’re talking Bama here, people.
And before the haters can bring up the fact that people in Tuscaloosa want Kalen DeBoer fired, let’s look at his record vs ranked teams. It’s pretty good.
We don’t need to overthink this one. Sure, I get that Alabama is running a gauntlet right now. They just beat a ranked Vanderbilt team one week after beating the Georgia Bulldogs. The haters are going to say they won’t be “up” for this one, but as usual, the haters are wrong. Bama isn’t some BS school. These kids are constantly getting everyone’s best shot. They’ll be fine.
As for football logic, I’ve heard about Missouri’s run defense being the best in the nation. Maybe they are, but how could we possibly know that? On one hand, they’ve only allowed two yards per carry so far this season, but on the other hand, they haven’t played anyone. Kansas might be the best team they’ve seen, and they allowed the Jayhawks to hang a 30-burger on them.
Even if the Tigers can stop the Crimson Tide rushing attack, I doubt they’ll be able to stop the aerial assault. Ty Simpson looks like a damn Heisman candidate out there right now. If LaNorris Sellers can hang 300+ on Missouri, then what do we think Simpson will do? Bama could easily win this game by double-digits, and we’re getting that at -3. Feels easy.
We’ll have a few hours between our bets this week, so we should use that time to soak in the last few hours of being poors. Take a walk, maybe eat a ketchup packet as a meal, I don’t know. All I do know is that once the Michigan/USC game starts, all of our problems will be solved if we just bet on points. Points are our ticket to Easy Street this week.
What’s even better is the fact that we’ll be able to watch our financial future play out on NBC. What a world.
The haters are going to say that the Wolverines’ defense is too strong for USC, and they may be half right. Michigan’s run defense is stout and should cause problems for the Trojans. We can give them that. But the thing is, USC can sling the rock. We just saw Jayden Maiava throw for 360+ the last time he played. He’ll be the third “real” quarterback the Wolverines have seen this season, and both of the other two (John Mateer & Dylan Raiola) shredded them for 270+ passing yards each. USC will be able to score.
The real part of this total that we need to focus on is the Michigan scoring points part. In order to get home on 55.5, we’ll need them to get near a 30-burger. I think they can. They’ve already done that three times this season. Against a USC defense that just allowed 12.3 pass yards per attempt last game, Bryce Underwood should be able to get loose. Fifty-six points could come in the first half. Maybe sooner.
