The UFC is really not doing Pimblett any favors in giving him Saint-Denis as his comeback assignment. The Frenchman is a slight moneyline favorite at -145 odds, but he is far more dangerous than that number suggests. Saint-Denis has a 100% finish rate in all of his professional bouts (UFC included) so taking him to win by finish at +300 odds seems like a strong bet if you believe Pimblett will come out a little shaky after his loss to Gaethje.
Prior to that loss, however, Pimblett did finish his last two opponents: Michael Chandler and King Green respectively. Saint-Denis does leave himself open sometimes and has been finished twice in his UFC career, but I still think Paddy’s path to victory will likely be via decision. His five-round war with Gaethje in January proved that he can sustain elite pressure throughout a longer fight, so that will swing in Pimblett’s favor.
In my opinion, I think the fight will go all five rounds giving Paddy “The Baddy” an advantage. I think Saint-Denis will be extremely dangerous for the first two rounds, but once his output slows down and Pimblett is still in front of him in rounds three, four, and five, the French fighter won’t have enough left in the tank to get a finish or look dominant enough for a decision victory.
Prediction: Pimblett by Decision / Technical Decision (+400) via BetMGM
