The Betting and Gaming Council has released a new careers video series focused on employment opportunities within Britain’s regulated betting and gaming industry, as an effort to outline the sector’s role in the UK economy, jobs market, and communities.

The initiative features staff from across the industry and examines the types of roles available in the regulated sector, including why employees value their work, how career pathways differ across the industry, and the importance placed on customer focus and maintaining high standards.

According to the BGC, Britain’s regulated betting and gaming sector supports 109,000 jobs across the UK, offering opportunities for workers to develop skills and build long-term careers.

The videos also seek to provide a closer look at what it is like to work in what the BGC described as a fast-paced and innovative industry, while highlighting the range of people and functions involved in its operations.

Tackling the black market

In October, the association unveiled a new campaign video aimed at warning consumers about the risks posed by unregulated gambling operators in the UK.

The short film, “Black Market: Spot The Difference,” begins by depicting a betting site that looks like a legitimate platform, complete with bright graphics and promotional offers. But as the narrative develops, it is revealed to be run by an unlicensed operator.

The group warned that such black market sites copy trusted brands while operating outside UK law, without player safeguards or responsible gambling protections.
