  • Betty announces move into iBingo with bingo hall acquisition
  • Bingo hall an important part of Kirkland community since 1998
  • Bingo hall both a social gathering place and a charitable engine for local organizations

Betty Gaming in Ontario is making a strategic move into online bingo, with the announcement that the company is buying Kirkland Lake Bingo Hall a key move on that front.

Charitable Support Through Regulated Bingo

Betty launched in Ontario’s regulated igaming market in 2023 as an online casino platform that focused on female gamblers. The company started to expand away from that in 2024, with management saying they would be focusing on the female players without alienating men, reporting a gender split of players at 50-50. The company is one of several operators looking to launch in Alberta’s new regulated market as well when that market goes live this spring or summer.

So an expansion into a new vertical is consistent with the company’s diversification strategy.

Kirkland Lake Bingo Hall has been part of the northern Ontario community since 1998, a community-first, social gathering place. Owning the bingo hall enables Betty to operate within Ontario’s regulated charitable bingo framework.

Community-First

The company will be looking to grow the charitable funding that flows back into the local communities there, supporting organizations across health youth, service and recreational sectors. A portion of all Betty igaming revenue in Ontario will go towards charitable funding.

“This acquisition is a strategic step as we launch our iBingo offering in Ontario,” said Chavdar Dimitrov, CEO, Betty.  “We’re excited to be innovating in a regulated space in a way that lets our growth translate into meaningful charitable funding for local communities.

Online Bingo Launch

“This is a long-term investment in the Kirkland Lake community. It’s about keeping a community institution open, supporting local charities, and making sure bingo remains relevant and accessible for the next generation of players.”

The transaction closed in late 2025 and Kirkland Lake Bingo will continue to operate under its existing name. The hall currently employs four staff members, all of whom will be retained.

In a statement, Betty committed to investing in upgrades to its technology and facilities.

Third Operator

Betty is the third operator in the province’s regulated market to offer peer-to-peer online bingo, according to a spokesperson from iGaming Ontario, which conducts and manages igaming in Ontario.

Peer-to-peer online bingo is currently accounted for as part of the casino category in iGaming Ontario’s monthly market performance reports. In January, online casino had a 77% market share when looking at non-adjusted gross gaming revenue statistics ($308.9 million).
