Game 2 of the Blazers vs Spurs series goes down tonight, with San Antonio once again listed as a heavy favorite in the NBA odds. The Spurs took the series opener 111-98, thanks to a dominant performance from Victor Wembanyama, as he showcased the skills that many experts predict will make him the face of the league for many years to come.

Portland was able to keep the game relatively close for 2+ quarters thanks to the playmaking of Jrue Holiday, and I’m banking on both him and Wembanyama exceeding expectations again tonight in the player props market.

The Blazers have leaned heavily on Holiday to facilitate and initiate sets all season long. He’s fully embraced the role, and in Game 1 he exploited a glaring hole in the Spurs’ defensive scheme. The Spurs are virtually impenetrable inside but do surrender 28 assists per game. They give up extra passes constantly as well by ranking bottom-six in defensive rebounding, creating massive volume for opposing point guards.

Holiday took full advantage last time out, dishing out a staggering 11 assists across 36 minutes. While he shot a miserable 26.7% from the field, his 11-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio proves he is making elite decisions. I will confidently back him to clear his assists prop, just like he’s done in both previous games versus San Antonio this year.

Not even 7-foot-2 Donovan Clingan could slow down Wemby in the series opener, giving the Spurs even more incentive to keep his usage rate sky high tonight. With his volume locked in, the over on his points prop is a slam dunk.
