Celtics Players to Watch

Boston’s headliner is Hugo Gonzalez, the 2025 first-round pick who flashed plenty of potential as a rookie. He averaged 10.8 points per game at Summer League a year ago and just logged a couple of solid FIBA qualifying games for Spain. Boston thought enough of him to reportedly keep him out of any Giannis Antetokounmpo trade talks.

The other name to circle is rookie Chris Cenac Jr., the Houston center Boston grabbed with the No. 27 overall pick. There’s a fun subplot there, since Toronto was reportedly linked to Cenac at No. 19 before taking Graves.

Fans on both sides will be watching how the two stack up. Second-round pick Dillon Mitchell out of St. John’s is a strong defender and rebounder worth an eye, too.

The Celtics are bringing five players with NBA experience to Vegas, but this is still a team short on returning scoring punch. Boston has never won a Summer League title and last reached the final back in 2021, so there’s some motivation to make a run.

Toronto is the tiny favorite here, but this line could bounce around depending on how each coach decides to handle minutes for their top returners.
