Check Out The PokerStars Anniversary Series Omaha Events

The announcement of the $50 million guaranteed PokerStars Anniversary Series caused quite a stir in the poker community, not least because of the massive combined guarantees offered.

As is usually the case during online poker tournament festivals, No-Limit Texas Hold’em dominates the schedule. However, if you are an Omaha fan or are simply looking to try your arm with four or five hole cards, you’re in luck during the Anniversary Series.

Some 63 events are dedicated to the craziness that is Omaha poker. Those tournaments boast combined guarantees of over $2.7 million. You’ll find traditional four-card Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO), Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo (PLO8), No-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo (NLO8), Five-Card PLO, and Five-Card PLO8. There’s even a trio of Courchevel tournaments for those wanting to take the action to new highs!

$650,000 Guaranteed Across Three PLO Main Events

It shouldn’t be surprising to discover that the biggest Omaha guarantees of the PokerStars Anniversary Series are reserved for the three Main Events. Played as traditional four-card PLO, these Main Events command buy-ins of $109, $1,050, and $5,200. For those investments, you get to compete for a slice of $100,000, $250,000, and $350,000, respectively.

All three PLO Main Events shuffle up and deal at 6:05 p.m. BST on May 25, so mark that off on your calendar. These two-day events break once the tournament reaches the money place, resuming at 6:05 p.m. BST on May 26, where play continues until a champion emerges.

Four-Card PLO Events Schedule

Expand the table below to see the full schedule for traditional four-card PLO events during the Anniversary Series. You’ll find that all of the tournaments are played on six-handed tables, but you’ll find variants such as turbo Progressive Knockout (PKO) and Mystery Bounty events to keep things fresh.

Four-Card PLO Hi-Lo Events Schedule

Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo, or PLO8 for short, is a fun, split-pot game that has more than its fair share of action. Be sure to read up on our Omaha Hi-Lo rules page before dipping your toes into the PLO8 waters.

Four-Card Fixed Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Events Schedule

Though the pots tend not to grow as large or as quickly in Fixed Limit Omaha Hi-Lo (FLO8), don’t let the fact that these tournaments use a fixed betting structure lure you into a false sense of security, because they also tend to be action-packed. There are only three FLO8 events during the Anniversary Series, with buy-ins of $11, $109, and $1,050.

Four-Card No-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Events Schedule

Just when you thought PLO8 games couldn’t get any crazier, PokerStars goes and switches the betting structure to No-Limit for nine Anniversary Series events! The first three of these NLO8 tournaments are played as a PKO, so expect chips to be flying around from the word go.

Five-Card Omaha and Hi-Lo Events Schedule

If four hole cards aren’t enough for you, then look out for the 5-Card Omaha tournaments, of which there are 12. Nine of those tournaments are standard 5-Card PLO, with the other three being 5-Card PLO8, otherwise known as “Big O.”

Pot-Limit Courchevel Hi-Lo Events Schedule

Last but not least among the Omaha tournaments in the $50 million Anniversary Series at PokerStars are the trio of Courchevel Hi-Lo events. Courchevel is similar to 5-Card PLO8 (Big O), with the main difference being that the first flop card is dealt face-up at the beginning of the hand, before the preflop betting round!
