- See the opening Colombia vs Switzerland odds for Tuesday, July 7
After both delivered quality 90-minute victories as favorites in the Round of 32, Colombia and Switzerland will square off for a place in the World Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday, July 7, in Vacouver.
Both were considered outside conteders to make a deep run at the start of the tournament, and the narrow margin for their round of 16 odds reflects that status.
Colombia vs Switzerland Odds
The Colombians are currently priced as 60-cent (-150) favorites in the quarterfinal qualification market at Kalshi, with Switzerland trading at 43c (+133).
The three-way moneyline and total-goal markets have not yet opened. The table above will be updated when those lines are posted.
Colombia Keeps Third Straight Clean Sheet
After a 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan on the first matchday, Colombia has been perfect defensively. They earned a 1-0 win over DR Congo on the second matchday, held Portugal to a 0-0 draw in the last game of the group stage, and then beat Ghana 1-0 on Friday night to book their ticket to the round of 16.
Jhoan Arias scored the go-ahead and only goal of the match in the 14th minute.
Colombia held Ghana without a shot on target for the full 90 minutes. Colombia, meanwhile, fired 20 shots towards the Ghanaian net with eight landing on target. Luis Diaz had a lead-extending goal called back for offside in the 56th minute of an overall dominant performance.
Switzerland Outclasses Algeria in Round of 32
The Swiss were equally impressive against mid-tier competition in the round of 32. Breel Embolo scored what would prove to be the winning goal just 10 minutes into their match with Algeria. Daniel Ndoye would extend the lead to 2-0 in the first minute of the second half as the Swiss cruised to a 2-0 win.
Switzerland finished with 2.45 xGF to just 0.74 for the Algerians.
That came after a near-spotless group stage, which included a 4-1 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina, a 2-1 win over Canada, and a stunning 1-1 draw with Qatar, a game which Switzerland dominated from start to finish before being pegged back in stoppage time.
Neither Switzerland Nor Colombia Among World Cup Favorites
Even though one is guaranteed to be in the quarterfinals, both Colombia and Switzerland are still considered outside contenders in the odds to win the World Cup. Colombia is trading at just just 3.8¢ at prediction site Kalshi (equal to +2532 odds), behind six other teams (France, Argentina, Spain, England, Brazil, Portugal, and Mexico).
Switzerland is trading at a miniscule 0.9¢ (equal to +11011 odds).
A win on Tuesday would equal Switzerland’s best result at the World Cup, a quarterfinal appearance, which they’ve done three times but not since 1954. It would also equal Colombia’s best World Cup finish; the reached the quarters in 2014.
The teams have met four times previiously with Colombia winning two, Switzerland one, and one ending in a draw. Only one of those four meetings came this millennium, a 3-1 win for Colombia at home during a friendly in 2007.
