Hellmuth's Home Game

Hellmuth’s Home Game presented by Poker Night in America (PNIA) and sponsored by BetRivers is once again airing on CBS Sports on Monday nights.

The nationally televised show, which was filmed at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, is unique in that there is no commentary. Instead, the show is carried by table talk from Phil Hellmuth alongside a cast of fellow pros and friends in an intimate, relaxed cash game setting.

PokerNews watched Episode 27, a continuation from the week before, and compiled a recap of some of the biggest hands and interesting storylines.

Here’s how things stacked up at the start of the episode:

Seat Player Stack Profit
1 Phillip “P3” Hellmuth III $12,325 +$2,325
2 Phil Hellmuth $11,025 +$1,025
3 Xuan Liu $21,675 +$6,675
4 Dan “Jungleman” Cates $25,750 -$4,250
5 Jennifer Tilly $16,925 +$11,925
6 Kelly Lucas $2,300 -$17,700
7 Erick Lindgren $5,000 $0

The game was played with $25/$50 blinds with a $50 big blind ante. Here’s a look at some of the biggest hands from the episode.

Kelly Lucas Exits the Game

Kelly Lucas raised to $300 from the cutoff with the 87, only to have Erick Lindgren three-bet to $900 holding the AA on the button. Action folded back to Kelly and she called to see a flop of 665, which gave her an open-ended straight draw.

Kelly moved all in for $2,350 and Lindgren snap-called to create a $6,725 pot. The two agreed to run it twice, and the 8 turn and 7 river on the first gave the first half to Lindgren. Likewise, the K turn and 5 river on the second allowed him to scoop.

“Alright, good luck, guys,” Kelly said before exiting the game down $20,000. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Jungleman vs. Edog

Xuan raised the button to $300 with the KQ, and Dan “Jungleman” Cates called from the small blind with the 66. Lindgren called from the straddle with the J9, and it was three ways to an action flop of 6A4.

Two checks saw Xuan Liu continue for $250, and Cates check-raised to $850 with his set of sixes. Lindgren then check-raised as well, making it $1,800 to go with his flopped flush, which Cates just called.

The 4 was gin for Cates, who filled up, and he coyly checked to Lindgren, who moved all in for $5,725. Cates snapped him off and won the $16,300 pot at Lindgren was drawing dead headed to the river, which was the meaningless 2. With that, Lindgren reloaded for $5,000.

Jungleman Straightens Out Hellmuth

Cates raised to $250 from the cutoff with the AJ, and only Hellmuth, who was in the straddle, called holding the J10. The latter then check-called a bet of $200 on the 510K flop, and then checked the Q turn, which gave Cates a straight.

Cates bet $1,000 and then another $2,500 after Hellmuth checked the 9 river, which gave him an inferior straight. Hellmuth quickly called, only to see the $8,025 pot pushed to Jungleman.

Cates Felts Hellmuth Again

With a double straddle on, Jennifer Tilly limped under the gun, and Hellmuth raised to $2,000 out of the big blind with the A6. Cates called from the double straddle position with the QJ, Tilly folded, and it was heads-up to the K10A flop.

Hellmuth bet $1,200 with top pair, and Cates, who flopped the nuts, moved all in. Hellmuth snap-called off his remaining $1,750 and discovered the bad news. They agreed to run it twice on the $10,275 pot, but Hellmuth bricked out and was left to rebuy.

Big Slick Doesn’t Do the Trick for Tilly

Jungleman raised to $250 from the hijack with the Q9, and Tilly three-bet to $900 from the cutoff holding the AK. Hellmuth then jammed for $3,875 with the 99 in the big blind, and action folded back to Tilly, who called to create an $8,175 pot.

They ran it twice, and Hellmuth was looking to hold. He did so on the first runout, which came 10Q5Q3, and also on the second runout, which was 683102.

Here’s how things looked at the end of the episode.

Player Stack Profit
Dan “Jungleman” Cates $62,475 +$32,475

Phillip “P3” Hellmuth III $13,900 +$3,900
Erick Lindgren $13,025 +$3,025
