On July 8, 2026, DraftKings officially launched its multi-state online poker platform, connecting Michigan players with counterparts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) confirmed the launch following a thorough regulatory review, ensuring that DraftKings complies with all requirements for multi-state poker operations in the state. The service is offered in Michigan through a partnership with the Bay Mills Indian Community, which operates the Bay Mills Resort & Casino in Brimley.
“This approval reflects the strength of our partnership with Bay Mills Indian Community and the thoroughness of our regulatory process,” MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams said in a press release. “As Michigan’s multistate poker network continues to grow, we remain focused on ensuring every operator meets the same high bar for fairness, security, and player protection.”
By joining forces with players from multiple states, DraftKings aims to enhance liquidity, a crucial factor for online poker. Unlike traditional casino games, poker relies on peer-to-peer gameplay, meaning a larger player pool allows for more games, fuller tables, and better prize opportunities.
Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement Facilitates Expansion
Michigan became a member of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) in 2022. Other member states include Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Prior to joining MSIGA, Michigan poker participants could only compete against others within the state, limiting table availability and prize pool size.
The MSIGA framework enables players across participating states to interact on the same virtual tables, with a weighted rake system tracking contributions by location. This ensures operators receive appropriate revenue shares while maintaining compliance with state regulations. Michigan’s entry into the agreement allows its online poker sector to access a significantly expanded player base, benefiting both operators and users.
DraftKings’ launch follows PokerStars on FanDuel, which was approved by MGCB in April to connect Michigan players to a multi-state poker network. With DraftKings’ addition, Michigan players now have multiple brands offering cross-border access to larger pools of active participants.
Market and Regulatory Context
Michigan’s online poker market has experienced rapid growth. In 2025, the state’s online casinos recorded a gross gaming revenue (GGR) of approximately $3.1 billion, generating $597.5 million in taxes. Pennsylvania and New Jersey’s online poker markets are similarly active, with 2025 revenues reaching $2.7 billion and $2.9 billion respectively. DraftKings does not currently offer online poker in Delaware or Nevada, citing population considerations, nor in Connecticut despite regulatory offers to join MSIGA.
By expanding its multi-state poker platform, DraftKings positions itself to better meet player demand while adhering to regulatory obligations. The MGCB emphasized that the approval process underscores the state’s commitment to legal, regulated gaming and responsible oversight.
“The clearance supports our approach of enabling licensed, regulated gaming activity while maintaining oversight tied to responsible gaming practices and industry integrity,” the MGCB noted.
