DraftKings has announced plans for its entry into Alberta, adding a second Canadian province to its online sportsbook and casino operations, pending licensure and regulatory approval. Eligible residents in Alberta can pre-register for DraftKings Sportsbook and Casino ahead of the expected rollout.

The operator has been active in Ontario since May 2022, when it introduced mobile sports betting and online casino products shortly after the market opened. If approved in Alberta, the province would join Ontario in the company’s Canadian portfolio.

The Alberta government confirmed earlier this month that the regulated market is set to open on July 13, 2026. The timeline is overseen by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission. DraftKings intends to make its sportsbook and casino products available on that date, subject to approval.

We’re excited about the opportunity to expand DraftKings’ footprint in Canada and bring our online sportsbook and casino experiences to customers in Alberta,” said Greg Karamitis, executive vice president and general manager of sports at DraftKings.

“With the anticipated launch aligning with the World Cup, hosted right here in North America, it’s a particularly exciting moment for sports fans in the province to engage with our platform.”

If the Alberta launch proceeds, it would represent the 34th jurisdiction in North America where DraftKings offers online sports betting and the seventh where it provides online casino products.

In the United States, DraftKings recently received approval from the Arkansas Racing Commission for a vendor license. The approval allows the company to introduce its sportsbook product in Arkansas.

The license followed a partnership with Southland Casino Hotel. The property has replaced its Betly-branded mobile sportsbook with the DraftKings platform.

At the same time, FanDuel, owned by Flutter Entertainment, also received approval to operate in Arkansas through a partnership with Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort.
