ELK Studios has expanded its long-running Pirots slot franchise with the release of Pirots 5, a new Egyptian-themed installment that continues the adventures of the collectible bird crew while introducing a large collection of mechanics, bonus features and a maximum payout potential of 10,000 times the stake.
The latest chapter follows the events of the previous game, which saw the birds travel through space. Their return journey does not go according to plan. During the landing, Skipper crashes into a theme park map and accidentally sets it on fire. Once the smoke clears, the damaged map reveals the location of a lost city of gold and points the birds toward their former ally turned enemy, Captain Blackfeather.
Ignoring warnings about curses and mummies, the birds enter an ancient temple filled with hazards, hidden passages and treasures. This setting forms the backdrop for a slot that combines the established CollectR mechanic with several new gameplay elements tied to exploration, traps and bonus rounds.
CollectR Returns Alongside an Expanding Grid
Pirots 5 is played on a 6×6 game grid that can grow to 8×8 during certain features. Four coloured birds act as collectors, gathering adjacent gems that match their respective colours. As symbols are collected, new ones fall into place and the sequence continues for as long as at least one bird can make another move.
The game carries medium-high volatility and has multiple RTP configurations, with the highest version set at 96%. Stakes range from €0.20/$0.20 up to €100/$100 per spin while the maximum win can reach 10,000 times the stake.
Four coloured gem types form the primary symbols. These gems can be upgraded through gameplay, increasing their values across seven levels. Depending on the gem colour and upgrade level, payouts range from 0.05x up to 25x the stake per collected gem.
A collection meter positioned above the grid tracks gathered gems and wild symbols. When filled, it releases feature symbols that can introduce additional mechanics and rewards. Several feature symbols can accumulate before being activated. Among the available symbols are coins, wilds, upgrades, transformation features, bonus triggers and the returning Captain Blackfeather.
Captain Blackfeather and Temple Hazards Shape Gameplay
A major feature of the game revolves around Captain Blackfeather, the traitorous former leader whose presence influences multiple parts of gameplay.
When a bird ends up adjacent to him, Captain Blackfeather activates and can take control of one to four birds. The affected birds become ghosts, while their symbols are converted into Blackfeather gems. These special gems offer higher values than standard symbols, ranging from 0.15x to 30x the bet. Captain Blackfeather can also collect feature symbols and automatically succeeds in battles encountered within other game mechanics.
Several environmental hazards appear throughout the temple adventure. Arrow Shooters, Boulders and Secret Doors all alter gameplay in different ways.
Arrow Shooters fire across the grid after activation and can remove birds from play temporarily. Boulder traps send rolling stone blocks through the grid, crushing symbols and obstacles in their path. Secret Doors rotate sections of the game board, changing symbol positions and creating new movement opportunities.
The Secret Door feature also plays a role in triggering one of the game’s larger bonus events.
Catacombs, Coin Features and Bonus Rounds
The game introduces catacomb exploration as another layer of gameplay. When birds collect matching symbols positioned on designated corner spaces, they enter underground chambers containing coffins, feature symbols and hidden mummies. Battles inside the catacombs can provide additional rewards, while Captain Blackfeather automatically wins any encounters if he enters the area.
A separate feature known as the Cursed Temple Coin Game can be triggered when players clear the entire grid during the Secret Door sequence. This mode takes place on an 8×8 grid centered around a cursed treasure. Birds collect coins while additional mechanics, including grid rotations and treasure upgrades, create opportunities for larger payouts.
Pirots 5 also contains a standard bonus game and an enhanced super bonus version. The regular bonus awards five free drops while retaining progress accumulated during the base game. The super bonus adds a Cursed Treasure Coin Rain at the beginning of every drop.
Beyond the main features, players can collect nine tokens distributed across three worlds: Cursed Temple, The Kraken and City of Gold. Gathering all nine permanently unlocks a Boss Castle game. Portals positioned around the edges of the grid can also transport birds to new locations, helping them reach collectable symbols.
X-iter Feature Offers Direct Access to Game Modes
As with several previous ELK Studios releases, Pirots 5 includes the X-iter system, allowing players to enter selected features directly. The available options include Bonus Hunt, Mega Hunt, guaranteed access to the Cursed Temple feature, the regular bonus game and the super bonus round.
By combining the CollectR mechanic with grid expansion, transformations, traps, catacomb exploration, coin features and persistent bonus progression, Pirots 5 becomes the latest entry in one of ELK Studios’ most established slot franchises, taking the travelling birds from space to an ancient Egyptian temple in pursuit of treasure and revenge.
