- FanDuel today officially announced it will be available in Alberta during the province’s upcoming regulated gaming launch
- Pre-registration is already available for FanDuel Canada
- FanDuel announced several charitable donations to communities in the province
While its availability was never much in question, FanDuel today officially announced it will be an approved Alberta sports betting app during the province’s upcoming regulated launch.
When Alberta launched its regulated gaming markets on Monday, July 13, FanDuel Alberta will be available to users 18-years and older in the province, pending regulatory approval. FanDuel is already listed as an official iGaming operator by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Commission (AGLC).
“Alberta represents an exciting new chapter for FanDuel Canada, and we look forward to the opportunity to bring our industry-leading Casino and Sportsbook experience to players across the province,” Dale Hooper, General Manager, FanDuel Canada, said in a company release. “As we plan to enter this new market, we’re committed to delivering a best-in-class entertainment experience and meaningful community engagement remains at the heart of everything we do.”
Planned Investment in Alberta Communities
Ahead of the July 13 launch, FanDuel users can now register accounts for the FanDuel Casino and Sportsbook app.
Additionally, FanDuel announced it will make several investments into the Alberta community. It announced a $50,000 donation to the A Dollar A Day Foundation to bridge the gap between funding and frontline mental health programs in the province. FanDuel has donated $150,000 to the foundation with its contributions across both Alberta and Ontario.
FanDuel will also donated $30,000 to the Canada Red Cross Emergency Management Program in Alberta to ensure communities are prepared for disasters, supported through crisis, and equipped to recover better.
Nearly 50 Registered Operators
As of Friday, July 3, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) has approved 49 Canada sports betting apps as iGaming operators for the initial launch. The AGLC has also approved 56 iGaming critical gaming systems providers and 14 iGaming platform providers for operation in the province.
PlayAlberta is currently the only legal Alberta sports betting app and regulated iGaming site in the province, it is not necessarily the only operator currently in the province. A number of operators are currently offering gaming in Alberta as part of the gray market, where they offer their games to Canadian sports bettors and customers but the government collects no tax revenues from their services.
Major sports betting companies, such as DraftKings Alberta, FanDuel Alberta, theScore Bet Alberta, and BetMGM Alberta, have successfully registered to operate in Alberta’s upcoming regulated sports betting market.
