Big Game on Tour

Love was in the air and chips were flying as Luke Moy, the season’s Loose Cannon, wrapped up the final session of The Big Game on Tour. The Brit had promised that if he booked a win, he and his partner Alexi would tie the knot right there in Las Vegas, but did he actually get his dream wedding?

While Moy chased romance, Lex Veldhuis was chasing pots. He took a chunk off of Jason Koon and some chips out of Alan Keating‘s stack as he searched for his first-ever win in Big Game profit.

Keating Misses Straight Flush Draw

Keating put out an $800 under-the-gun straddle and called with 96 after Chance Kornuth made it $2,000 with A10. Keating picked up a straight-flush draw on the 1077 flop, and check-raised to $7,000 over a bet of $1,500. Kornuth called and remained ahead with his tens over sevens following the 9 turn. Keating check-called for $14,000 with his slightly improved hand, bringing in the 4 river. Keating checked, and Kornuth fired out another $18,000.

“I got it,” said Kornuth, turning over his winning hand after Keating paid him off to collect the $83,000 pot.

In another straddled pot, comedian Morgan Jay raised to $3,400 with A10. Keating called with 64 from the small blind before Kornuth and Koon got out of the way.

Jay made trips on the 10103 flop, and the action checked through to the 2 turn. Keating led out for $5,000 with his gutshot, and made a reluctant call when Jay, with a song on his guitar, announced all-in for $13,400. Keating chucked in the few extra chips, but failed to pull the comedian off stage after the 4 river gave Jay the double-up in the $35,200 pot.

Koon Finds the Fold

The next significant pot saw Keating open to $1,800 from the button with 75. Koon looked down at A9 in the big blind, and potted it to $6,000. Keating wasn’t going anywhere and called.

Koon check-called for $5,000 on the J86 flop, and made a pair of nines on the 9 turn. However, Keating had a straight to leave the PokerStars ambassador drawing dead. Keating sized up to $17,000 and picked up some value as Koon decided to stick around.

A third check from Koon came on the 6 river, and after a bit of thinking time, he let go of his hand after Keating wagered $55,000 into a pot of $56,000.

Boat vs. Flush vs. Straight

The time, Kornuth put out the $800 straddle, and Koon popped it to $2,000 next to act with K10. Lex Veldhuis had 44 in the small blind and called before Keating defended the big blind with A7.

Veldhuis smashed the 554 flop, making a full house, but couldn’t find any action as all three players checked. The 6 turn gave Keating and Koon some false hope, as they picked up some no-good draws. Veldhuis bet $6,500 and was called in both spots to swell the pot to $26,700.

The 3 river gave Keating a straight, and Koon a flush, but of course, Veldhuis had already sealed the checkmark. Veldhuis bet $23,000, and Keating quickly folded after assessing the situation.

“F***, I’m about to make the craziest fold I’ve ever made in my life,” agonized Koon. “The problem is, I just might beat a value bet.”

Koon talked himself into the call and went further into the red after Veldhuis tabled his full house.

However, it wasn’t all bad news for Koon as he soon rebounded, stacking Jay with QQ against KJ after the two got their stacks in preflop. The $80,400 pot plus Jay’s watch went to Koon after his pair faded the world on the 742510 runout.

It was a quiet final session for the Loose Cannon, but the pub landlord booked the win he needed for his dream wedding. After 150 hands of $200/$400 action, Moy banked $11,100 and was quickly whisked away to The Little Chapel of Hearts for the wedding ceremony.

Veldhuis locked up his first win on The Big Game, ending the session with the biggest profit $149,900. Kornuth and Keating also finished in the green, adding $66,000 and $26,200, respectively.

Koon ended the night down $53,200, while Jay and Wolfgang Poker both dropped $100,000 apiece.

That’s a wrap for this season’s Big Game on Tour. It was another wild mix of huge pots, great personalities, and now, a Vegas wedding to top it all off.
