A trip to the College World Series finale is on the line. All the Oklahoma Sooners (40-22) is beat the 3rd-seeded Georgia Bulldogs. Again.

Oklahoma disposed of the Bulldogs in the previous round, forcing Georgia into a must-win Tuesday night, and they did, knocking off Texas 2-0. The Sooners need just one win to make it to the final series, while the Bulldogs need to knock off the Sooners twice.

First pitch for this showdown is scheduled for 7pm ET from Charles Schwab Field, in Omaha, Nebraska, with ESPN providing the broadcast coverage.

Georgia vs Oklahoma Predictions and Best Bets

  • Georgia Moneyline (67¢ at Kalshi)

Georgia’s only goal is to extend this to a winner-take-all game on Thursday, and even without an ace to throw on the mound, things are shaping up for them pretty well.

The Bulldogs have used just four total pitchers so far at the CWS, with Dylan Vigue and Justyn Byrd combining on a 4-hit, 12-strikeout gem in the 2-0 must-win over Texas on Tuesday.

That leaves a bullpen-by-committee to win one before turning back to stud Joey Volchko — one that is extremely fresh with some lively arms, including Matt Scott (7-0, 3.88 ERA), Paul Farley (8-1, 4.53 ERA) and Zach Brown (2-0, 3.53 ERA).

Their biggest job is to keep things level early on. The Sooners have outscored their opponents 76-43 in the first inning this season, and that includes building a 3-0 lead on Georgia in the last game they played.

Oklahoma did have the advantage of sitting back and watching UGA sweat out a win, while knowing they’ve got two cuts to punch their ticket to the championship, where they have the second-best College World Series odds.

The will start freshman Nick Wesloski — the third straight freshman to start for the Sooners at the CWS. Wesloski will be making just his second start of the season, but he showed his stuff in the regionals against Citadel, throwing seven innings and allowing three runs.

He’ll be facing a Georgia lineup that has slowed recently, scoring just five runs across the last two games.

Against OU, they belted three homers, but were dreadful pushing home runs, perhaps the biggest reason they lost that game. The Bulldogs went 0-for-12 with runners and base and 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position, failing to string consecutive hits together.

But Georgia was among the top teams in college baseball putting 9.4 runs per game, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were able to find their form when needed the most.

The Bulldogs already got their scare in these playoffs. I like them to push this one series into the win-or-go-home finale Thursday.
