June 29th vs Paraguay

Now that Germany have topped Group E, they’ll be playing against Paraguay. This should be a straightforward task for the Germans.

Round of 16

July 4th vs France

Should Germany beat their opposition in the round of 32, the round of 16 would then likely have them up against the Group I winners, who are expected to be France.

Quarter-final

July 9th vs Netherlands

This is where things start to get a whole lot more serious, with Germany looking like they’ll be playing the Netherlands in the quarter-finals. As the round of 16 will probably have Oranje playing either South Korea or Canada, they’ll be heavy favourites to reach this stage.

With a long-standing history between the two sides going back to the 1974 World Cup final, this game would be one to watch if it comes to fruition.

Semi-final

July 14th vs Spain

The semi-finals look like they will then have Die Mannschaft playing the Euro 2024 champions, Spain (see Spain’s possible routes to the World Cup final, to get an idea of who they’ll potentially beat to get this far). With a recent loss to La Roja in the 2024 Euros at the quarter-finals stage, Germany will be keen to avenge this and push on to the final!

If Spain aren’t able to reach this stage, then Germany could end up playing Belgium. The last time these two sides played at a World Cup, Germany won 3-2, meaning there’s potential for a positive result for them here.

World Cup final

July 19th vs Argentina

Now for the most important stage of the competition – the World Cup final. Imagine… Germany perform like they did in 2014 and reach the final after battling through a very tough route. But who are their most likely opponents going to be?

For Germany to add a fifth World Cup title to their honour list, they will probably have to face the same opponent they triumphed over in 2014: Argentina (our article covering Argentina’s possible routes to the World Cup final will give you an idea of the level they’ll have had to hit to reach this point). This time, though, Argentina will enter the game desperate to make it back-to-back World Cup titles, to mark what is likely Messi’s last ever dance on the greatest stage of all.

If Argentina don’t manage to make it to the final, then Germany could face an old foe in England, or another South American outfit in Brazil.

Being one of the best international outfits, it’s no surprise that Germany have topped their World Cup group without too much difficulty. Following the draw, Die Mannschaft were placed into Group E alongside Curaçao, Côte d’Ivoire, and Ecuador – which they topped after winning their first two games against Curaçao and Côte d’Ivoire.
