GGPoker GGMasters 6th Anniversary

The GGMasters tournament celebrates its sixth anniversary in February, and GGPoker is celebrating by boosting its guarantee to a staggering $10 million despite keeping the buy-in at $150.

When GGPoker first launched the GGMasters six years ago, it cost $150 to enter and featured a $300,000 guarantee. The tournament proved exceptionally popular thanks to the raft of satellites feeding into it, and the fact that the freezeout format was (and still is) something of a rarity in the online poker world.

Over the years, the $150 GGMasters has continued growing, with its regular guarantee now $1 million. However, this February, a sixth-anniversary edition of the GGMasters takes place, with a whopping $10 million in guaranteed prizes!

The $10 million guaranteed GGMasters explodes into action at noon GMT on February 1. Two more flights take place that day at 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. GMT. A week later, on February 8, another trio of flights takes place at the same times, followed by a “last chance” Day 1 at 1:00 p.m. GMT on February 9.

Each of those seven Day 1s is played as a freezeout, though players may enter as many as they wish or their bankroll allows. Each flight ends after Level 25 or when 10% of the field remains, with those who progress more than once carrying their best stack forward to Day 2 at 5:00 p.m. GMT on February 9.

Day 2 continues until only the final table remains, with those finalists returning to the action from 5:00 p.m. on February 10.

With the $150 buy-in split into $138 + $12, GGPoker needs 72,463 entrants to avoid an overlay, which seems a tall order even for the online poker giant. Satellites from $2 are running around the clock.
