Brazil has always had a strong online poker pedigree, but Guilherme Kleist has shown he can do it on the live felt as well after winning the PokerStars Spin & Go Championship Live at EPT Barcelona.
Having admitted to playing hundreds of thousands of Spin & Go tournaments online, Kleist put on a masterclass, coming from behind to win 4-2-0 against runner-up Joao Nascimento, who had won the first to matches of the final, and Krystian Lisowski, who had already won €20,000 in Spins over the course of the tournament.
A total of €150,000 was up for grabs in the final, and after a three-way deal, Kleist took home the lion’s share with €75,000 heading his way.
Spin & Go Championship Live Final Table Payouts
Place | Player | Country | Payout |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Guilherme Kleist | Brazil | €75,000 |
2 | Joao Nascimento | Brazil | €42,500 |
3 | Krystian Lisowski | Poland | €32,500 |
*Three-handed deal agreed. Nascimento second (2 wins) ahead of Lisowski (0 wins)

“It feels amazing. I ran so hot the entire tournament,” he said afterwards. “I’m so lucky and so grateful.”
Kleist won €5,500 in Spin winnings during the tournament and takes home over €80,000 in combined winnings.
“Of course, the money means a lot, but it’s more about the symbolism of the tournament than the money.”
Day 2 Action
Nine players returned for Round 3 to kick off Day 2, and it didn’t take long for us to have our first player through to the final. Krystian Lisowksi dispatched PokerStars Team Pro AndyPSX and Cendoya Ruiz in just under an hour, with Ruiz the only other player to win even a single match.
He was soon joined by Guilherme Kleist who, with his wife watching on, locked up his spot in the final after a back-and-forth match with Romania’s Claudiu Moraru and Spain’s David Xarau.
Eventually, and after a long wait, Joao Nascimento became the final player through to the final, ensuring two Brazilians will be contesting for first prize, after Nascimento grabbed four wins before Ilari Tiainen from Finland (3 wins) and Axel Piñeiro from Argentina (2 wins).

The Final
The final three players agreed to a deal, ensuring each player would receive €25,000 with the remaining payouts as follows:
- €50,000
- €17,500
- €7,500
Nascimento dominated the opening two matches, defeating Lisowski heads-up in the first and Kleist heads-up in the second.
However, after Lisowski bust first in Game 3, Kleist turned the tables on his compatriot to notch his first win, and avoid it being match point to Nascimento.
With Nascimento busting first in Game 4, all eyes were on Lisowski to see whether he would score his first point of the match, but it was Kleist who tied things up at two wins, along with Nascimento.

After a short break, play resumed with Kleist eliminating Lisowski on the very first hand of Game 5. A short while later, Kleist cracked the pocket aces of Nascimento, after flopping two pair with king-queen, to put himself within touching distance of the title.
In what turned out to be the final Game, Lisowski found himself all in again vs. Kleist, this time with A♦5♦ against the A♣K♠ of his opponent. There was no help and it was down to Nascimento to halt Kleist’s winning streak and extend the contest.
Down 2:1 in chips, Nascimento could only watch as Kleist turned the screw. Nascimento cracked pocket deuces with jack-eight to stay alive to all but level the stacks. The money went in moments later with Kleist holding ten-nine against the ace-king of Nascimento, but this time it was Kleist who flopped best to move ahead by the narrowest of margins.
The final hand saw Nascimento at risk but ahead:
Joao Nascimento: A♦Q♦
Guilherme Kleist: K♠8♣
A queen on the turn gave Nascimento a pair, but a king on the turn gave Kleist the lead, and after the river bricked he emerged triumphant as the winner of the PokerStars Spin & Go Championship Live.
