Move over, Tom Dwan. There is a new record holder for the largest pot ever won in live-stream poker history.
A high roller named ST at the King Poker Cup in Jeju, South Korea, won a staggering $5 million pot off Chinese poker pro and Triton champion Aaron Zang in a hand that will likely be remembered for some time.
Record Pot in $1 Million Buy-In Cash Game
The record-setting hand took place during the $1 million buy-in King Poker Cup Million Dollar Cash Game, which had blinds of $1,000/$2,000.
In a clip shared on X, action picked up on the river with the board reading 10♦7♣Q♠K♠8♦. Zang, holding a straight with J♦9♣, bet $800,000 from the hijack into the pot of $1,687,000 as action moved to ST in early position with a mystery hand.
He then raised all in to $1,871,000 as Zang agonized over a decision with the second nuts. He eventually called, leading ST to flip over A♥J♥ for the higher straight to drag a pot valued at $5,029,000.
The pot quickly amassed tens of thousands of views on social media, with one Japanese viewer calling the hand “unbelievable.”
The million-dollar cash game’s lineup also include online legend Wiktor “Limitless” Malinowski and Chinese high-stakes pro Xuan Tan.
Other Big Pots
The $5 million pot eclipses the previous largest pot in live-stream poker history, which occurred in the 2023 Hustler Casino Live Million Dollar Game, which this year will be taking place at the WSOP in Las Vegas.
The beneficiary of that $3,081,000 pot was high-stakes veteran Tom Dwan, while the player on the losing end was crypto entrepreneur Wesley Fei, who a few months later spent a weekend in a $400,000-per-night villa in Las Vegas.
Additionally, some of the biggest live-streamed poker games of all time took place last year and were centered around Ossi “Monarch” Ketola, who played the likes of Alex Foxen and Dan “Jungleman” Cates.
Zang, who has $21.9 million in live tournament earnings, is no stranger to huge swings in seven-figure buy-in events. In 2019, he took down the £1 million Triton Million for Charity in London for $16.7 million.
Though he lost the $5 million pot, the Triton champion will have another shot at a title, and a chance to win some of that money back, at the upcoming Triton Super High Roller Series in Montenegro, which will take place May 13-28 at Maestral Resort & Casino.
