Announced in 2023, Hollywood Casino Columbus will open what it’s calling a “state-of-the-art hotel tower” on June 12, 2026. The 203 rooms include 183 standard guestrooms and 20 luxury suites.

The hotel additionally features a full-service bar and restaurant called The Hill Eatery & Lounge, conference rooms, a fitness center, and an outdoor seating terrace. Reservations for the hotel open on April 15.

We’re thrilled to officially announce the opening date for our new hotel at Columbus, which positions us to be the top entertainment destination in the region,” said Jay Snowden, president and CEO of Penn Entertainment.

Hollywood Columbus includes over 1,700 slot machines, 65 live dealer table games, a sportsbook, and six restaurants and bars.

Landlord Financing

Penn Entertainment operates Hollywood Casino Columbus, but the property is owned by Gaming and Leisure Properties, Inc. The real estate investment trust bankrolled the $100 million hotel at the Ohio casino.

The project came as a result of Penn and GLPI negotiating a new master lease in October 2022. In exchange for annual rent increases of 1.5% through 2033, GLPI agreed to invest $350 million to move Hollywood Casino Joliet inland in Illinois and construct hotels at M Resort in Nevada and Hollywood Columbus.

“This opening will mark our third retail development project to be completed in under a year, building on the momentum from our new casino in Joliet and second hotel tower at the M Resort,” Snowden explained.

Snowden added that the Hollywood Columbus hotel will grow the casino’s workforce by roughly 100 new positions. Job seekers are encouraged to attend on-site job fairs for all hotel staff positions on March 27 and April 10.

Along with the hotel, Hollywood Casino Columbus plans to expand its high-limit area later this year.

Market Leader

Ohio is home to four casinos: Hollywood Columbus, Jack Cleveland, Hard Rock Cincinnati, and Hollywood Toledo. State voters authorized the four casinos through a November 2009 ballot referendum. Penn subsequently acquired two of the gaming concessions in Columbus and Toledo.

In 2025, Columbus led the way with gross gaming revenue of $294.7 million. Jack was second at $257.8 million, Hard Rock was third at $243.6 million, and Hollywood Toledo was fourth at $237.7 million.

Ohio is additionally home to seven racinos where slot-like video lottery terminals (VLT) operate. MGM Northfield Park led the VLT facilities, with GGR of more than $318.5 million during the 2025 fiscal year (July 2024 through June 2025).

Penn’s Ohio racinos — Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course and Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway — combined to win about $340.4 million.
