It’s Friday night. We made it! If we’re being honest, I knew we would. We’re resilient like that. Always have been. But now that we need to get serious. We’re staring down the barrel of a full MLB slate, so there will be dongs flying tonight. Our job is to figure out which dongs are flying. It sounds easy at first, but if you’ve been in the dong game for any time at all, you know it’s not that easy. It takes a special man (or woman) to make it in this game we play. Lucky for us, I’ve already gone through every matchup with a fine-toothed comb. There will be a lot of dongs out tonight, but there are three guys in particular who are worth our hard-earned cash. If even one of them goes yard, we’ll profit. That’s huge because I think all three are going. Feels easy. See you on the other side.

Home Run Pick #1 – Pete Alonso Gets Loose

We’re starting with one of the first games on the slate, which is a must on a Friday night. Who in the hell wants to wait on dinger bets? Not us. Not ever. It’s just not how we roll.

The thing is, Pere Alonso plays at 7:05 pm ET, and he has a matchup worth its weight in gold with Brayan Bello.

The haters are going to say that Pete hasn’t done shit this season, and in fairness, he hasn’t. But that doesn’t mean he won’t. He just needs to see more sinkers from righties. Lucky for Pete (and us), Alonso is going to see plenty of sinkers from Bello. The guy throws sinkers almost half the time to righties. The last one Alonso saw landed 410 feet away on Wednesday, and if we’re being honest, the next one he sees could travel even further. Feels right.

Friday HR Pick #2 – Bryce Harper Is Wild Too

Now that the books know we’re not playing around, it’s time to drop a deuce on them. Number two, and that second guy is Bryce Harper. Choosing between Bryce and Kyle Schwarber is always tough, but tonight, I think Bryce is the correct call. He also comes at a much better price.

Tie in price and Grant Holmes’s pitch mix, and we may have just created fire.

The chart shows the fastball, but Holmes also throws a slider to lefties, which Harper has been smashing. (In fairness, Schwaber has been, too.) But when it comes to the four-seam fastball, Harper is our guy lately. We’re talking a 103.4 mph exit velocity on that offering from righties in his last 10 plate appearances to go along with a 33% barrel rate. We could see a ball hit to space tonight. Maybe further.

Friday HR Pick #3 – Oneil Cruz Can’t Be Stopped

We’ve already hit the books pretty hard, but this is where we knock them out for good. They can sustain two huge blows, but a third one is just too much. Especially when we’re talking about a guy like Oneil Cruz. He’s too much for anyone.

Now, throw in the fact that he’s going to see Brandon Woodruff tonight, and we’re deadly. I feel like we could get arrested.

The haters are going to say Cruz has homered in each of his last two games, so he can’t possibly go tonight. That is so dumb. Like, we’re going to fade someone for being awesome. He’s either going to see a four-seamer or a changeup tonight, and he’s never seen those pitches better than he’s seeing them right now. This is an absolute no-brainer. Feels right.
