England’s World Cup 2026 preparations continue with a friendly against New Zealand at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Saturday.

Thomas Tuchel has named his 26-man squad for the international showpiece and the Three Lions will be hoping to get themselves fine-tuned ahead of their tournament opener.

Three Lions can roar in Tampa

The announcement of Tuchel’s World Cup squad was met with surprise, and dismay, in some quarters, but England’s chosen 26 now have the chance to deliver.

It’s a strange set-up for this friendly contest with the likes of Alex Scott, Rio Ngumoha, Josh King, Jason Steele and Ethan Nwaneri, who have not made the final cut, all available to face New Zealand.

Arsenal quartet Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke are not expected to be involved in Tampa following their Champions League final efforts, while Dean Henderson is expected to miss out after Crystal Palace’s Conference League success.

Those absentees mean that Tuchel is likely to make full use of his roster, but England should still be too strong for New Zealand.

There are bags of talent in the Three Lions’ side, who won all eight qualifying matches – scoring 22 times and conceding none.

New Zealand have lost eight of their last 10 games, which includes Tuesday’s 4-0 hammering against Haiti.

Leg 1: England to win @ 1/8

Goals to flow in Florida

England’s underwhelming 1-1 draw with Uruguay and their 1-0 defeat to Japan in March has left them with the need to create a positive feeling heading into the World Cup.

There is a wealth of attacking talent in the squad with Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon, Marcus Rashford and Harry Kane at England’s disposal.

New Zealand have conceded at least two goals in four of their last five games and they are unlikely to keep a top-level England at bay.

Leg 2: Over 2.5 goals @ 19/40

Toney to stake his claim

Many of England’s top performers have endured gruelling domestic campaigns in Europe’s top leagues and that may see Ivan Toney given the chance to shine.

The former Brentford forward hit 32 goals in the Saudi Pro league this season and he could be on penalty-taking duty in Harry Kane’s absence.

Leg 3: Ivan Toney anytime goalscorer @ 11/20

Mainoo to make his mark

Kobbie Mainoo should be full of confidence having earned his way back into Manchester United’s side under Michael Carrick and made the World Cup squad.

The 21-year-old could be handed a start in a forward-thinking role and he can grab his first England goal at senior level.

Leg 4: Kobbie Mainoo anytime goalscorer @ 5/1
