The fan vote has been cast, and Josh Arieh, a seven-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner, is not among the eight individuals on the 2026 Poker Hall of Fame ballot.
Timing may have cost the 2021 WSOP Player of the Year a spot on the ballot. He’s one of six players who will return at 1:30 p.m. PT on Thursday to compete in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship final table, all with a shot at securing the most coveted mixed games title in the world.
There’s no going back and re-voting for the PHOF. But there could be some questioning their vote if Arieh were to win the prestigious bracelet, which would put him among just 10 others in history who’ve won eight WSOP bracelets.
Arieh, the third-place finisher in the 2004 WSOP Main Event, will return to the felt third in chips at 5,265,000. But there isn’t much separation between second place (Maxx Coleman) and fifth place (Phil Ivey), only a couple big bets difference. Benny Glaser, trying become the seventh player ever to reach nine bracelets, has a comfortable chip lead at 8,610,000, while Paul Volpe is the shorty with 2,725,000 chips and Kristopher Tong is also in the mix at 5,180,000.
Bounce Back Summer
Arieh has been one of the most dominant performers at the World Series of Poker since 2021. But he didn’t crush it like he usually does last summer. His only final table appearance, a second-place finish, was in an online event.
Last year was last year. This is a new year, and the longtime poker player who won his first bracelet in 1999 is quietly having a huge series. Well, maybe not quietly anymore, especially if he wins the PPC.
Arieh, who won his seventh bracelet last October in an online tournament, has 10 cashes this summer, including five final table appearances (three official final tables). He finished second to Calvin Anderson in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship, his highest finish at the 2026 WSOP. Thus far.
The Poker Players Championship final table will certainly draw in plenty eyeballs to the WSOP livestream. Ivey is chasing bracelet 12, Glaser bracelet nine, and Arieh attempting to prove the PHOF fan voters wrong, and to win his eighth bracelet. Perhaps, the fossil Greg Raymer gifted Arieh will bring him some good luck at the PPC final table.
