  • The Lakers ride a hot start into a Saturday nightcap against the Mavericks in Las Vegas
  • Cameron Carr has been one of the loudest stories of Summer League, while Dallas leans on its top draft pick
  • Keep reading for my Lakers vs Mavericks prediction, player props and odds for July 11

The Los Angeles Lakers (1-0) close out Saturday’s Vegas slate against the Dallas Mavericks (0-1), and it’s a matchup of two teams headed in opposite directions early. LA looked sharp in its opener while Dallas is still hunting for a rhythm.

Sportsbooks have this one priced tight in the latest NBA odds, closer to a coin flip than the rest of the night’s board. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:00 pm ET from Las Vegas, with ESPN carrying the broadcast.

Below you’ll find my Lakers vs Mavericks prediction, followed by my favorite player props and the full odds breakdown.

Lakers vs Mavericks Prediction

  • Los Angeles Lakers Moneyline (+105 at BetMGM)

For my Lakers vs Mavericks prediction, I like the Lakers to keep rolling and win outright. They’ve been one of the more fun teams to watch this week, and the offense is humming at the right time.

Los Angeles opened Vegas with a 96-84 win over the Thunder, a game where five players hit double figures and the ball moved the way you want it to. That balance is the difference. Adou Thiero led the way with a game-high 20 points, chipping in four rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks. That’s the kind of do-everything line that wins summer possessions.

Dallas is coming off the opposite kind of night. The Mavs shot it poorly in a loss to the Warriors and have leaned heavily on this year’s draft class as they try to find some offensive footing. Rookie big Morez Johnson Jr., the No. 9 overall pick, anchors that group, but a cold-shooting team is a tough sell against a Lakers side with this many scorers.

Lakers vs Mavericks Player Props

My favorite of the Lakers vs Mavericks player props is Cameron Carr over 2.5 made threes. The No. 24 overall pick has been the story of LA’s summer, and the volume backs it up.

  • Cameron Carr 3+ Made Threes (+106 at FanDuel)

Carr has piled up 45 points across his first two Summer League games while shooting 45% from three, and he added 18 in the opener against Oklahoma City. His draft slide to No. 24 is looking like a steal. At plus money for three makes, I’ll ride the hot hand against a Mavs group that’s had trouble slowing down confident scorers.

The other prop I like leans on Thiero’s motor. He’s an elite athlete who fills a stat sheet, and FanDuel prices his scoring generously after a 20-point opener.

  • Adou Thiero 20+ Points (+230 at FanDuel)

Thiero poured in a game-high 20 on 8-of-14 shooting in the Thunder win, getting most of it at the rim where he’s tough to stop. Head coach JJ Redick’s assignment for him is simple: attack the ball and win the possession battle. At +230 for another 20-point night, the payout is worth a small swing.

One caution before you bet it, though. Thiero has a knee history and sat out a game this month with a wrist issue, so confirm he’s active first. His outside shot is also a work in progress, which means he needs volume inside to get there.

Lakers vs Mavericks Odds

The latest Lakers vs Mavericks odds have Dallas as a slim 1.5-point favorite and -125 on the moneyline, or about a 56% implied probability. LA comes back at +105, with the total sitting at 180.5.

It’s essentially a pick’em, which fits two rosters built around recent draftees and two-way hopefuls rather than settled veterans.

Odds as of July 11 at BetMGM. New customers can claim the BetMGM promo code and grab one of the top NBA betting apps to bet on Summer League.

With the two sides priced this close, it pays to shop around before locking anything in. The Lakers’ scoring depth is the edge I keep coming back to, and a plus number on the better-looking team through two days is a spot I’ll take.
