- The Detroit Lions clash with the Kansas City Chiefs on Week 6 Sunday Night Football
 - Jared Goff and Tyquan Thornton feature in my props article
 - See my favorite Lions vs Chiefs player props and best bets for SNF

The 4-1 Detroit Lions invade Kansas City on SNF to face the 2-3 Kansas City Chiefs. Detroit is 12-2 in primetime under Dan Campbell, best in the NFL since 2021, while KC attempts to avoid being under .500 through six weeks for the first time in a decade. Patrick Mahomes and co. are 0-3 in one-score games this season after being 11-0 last year. This potential Super Bowl preview will be played at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
There’s a lot of money to be made in NFL player props, and I’ve compiled my three favorite prop bets, below, including a touchdown-scorer bet in the Week 6 SNF odds.
Lions vs Chiefs Player Props
Both teams are serious contenders in the Super Bowl odds with the Chiefs sporting the fourth shortest odds at +1200 and the Lions fifth at +1700.

Lions vs Chiefs Prop Pick #1: Jared Goff Under 22.5 Completions
Jared Goff and the Lions have won their last four contests following a Week 1 defeat to the Packers. He’s thrown for 12 TD’s, which is the most in the league entering Week 6. However, Goff hasn’t had to toss the ball a ton, given that Detroit has an incredibly balanced attack led by the two-headed RB monster of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.
With the Lions on a roll offensively, Goff has completed 20 or fewer passes in three consecutive contests, and 22 in his latest career outing against the Chiefs in 2023. The Chiefs are 21st in the NFL in rushing yards allowed on the campaign, so more Gibbs/Montgomery rushes means less Goff needs to pass, so I like the under in this SNF duel.
- Jared Goff Under 22.5 Completions (-117)

DET vs KC Player Prop #2: Tyquan Thornton Over 26.5 Receiving Yards
Tyquan Thornton has been a revelation for the Chiefs passing attack through five contests. The former Patriots castoff wideout (2nd round pick in 2022) had his highest yardage output of the campaign last week with 90 yards, and he’s leading the team in receiving yards.
His total for this game sits at 26.5 which seems low, given what’s he done so far. In four of his five duels, Thornton has surpassed 40 yards, and he’s up against a banged up Lions secondary. I’m very comfortable going with him to blow over his total, particularly with KC still not having the services of suspended WR Rashee Rice until next game.
This pick aligns with Brady Trettenero’s selection in his Lions vs Chiefs picks, where he also thinks the Chiefs will have a strong game.
- Tyquan Thornton Over 26.5 Receiving Yards (-111)

Lions vs Chiefs Touchdown Scorer Props
Moving over to the Lions vs Chiefs touchdown scorer props, Jahmyr Gibbs has the shortest odds to record a TD at -145. The players most likely to find the end zone for the Chiefs are Travis Kelce and Xavier Worthy at +145.
Lions vs Chiefs Prop Pick #3: Tyquan Thornton Anytime TD
This season, it’s Tyquan Thornton and not Travis Kelce or Marquise Brown who leads the Chiefs in receiving yards (272) and TD catches (3). Last week was the first time in Thornton’s last four without finding paydirt.
If I’m already selecting him to go over his receiving yardage total, I can double dip on him getting a TD as well. I love that a whopping seven Chiefs players have shorter odds to record a touchdown than Thornton, meaning there’s a bit more juice on the wager selecting Mahomes’ favorite target in the early going of 2025. Tyquan Thornton Anytime Touchdown (+320)
