- Both the Magic and 76ers enter with 2-1 records in Summer League
- Philly is coming off a 26-point loss last night to Houston
- Keep reading for my Magic vs 76ers best bets and picks
The Orlando Magic (2-1 in Summer League) and Philadelphia 76ers (2-1 in Summer League) meet at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, to wrap up the “first round” of the Summer League. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU and NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus at 4:00 pm ET. The winner will have a shot to advance to the semifinals over the weekend while the loser will drop into consolation matches.
Both teams have enjoyed steady starts to their Summer League action. The Magic dropped their opener against the Hornets before firing back with close wins over the Heat and Blazers. The 76ers started 2-0, toppling the Pistons and Pacers, before receiving a beatdown via the Rockets yesterday.
I have locked in two Magic vs 76ers best bets, providing a winner and a game-total pick for this afternoon’s exhibition showcase.
Magic vs 76ers Picks & Best Bets
Moneyline Pick: 76ers (+170, Kalshi)
Sticking with my general strategy of betting exhibition games, I am backing the underdog 76ers with a solid plus-money line. As dialed in as sportsbooks can be, there is tremendous volatility in an exhibition setting compared to the regular season or playoffs.
Caesars provides a +140 line, implying the 76ers have a 41.7% chance of winning this afternoon. I will happily take my chances on a de facto 50-50 game. One could also opt to take the 76ers on the spread (+4.5, -108 at Caesars), but I feel that adds unnecessary risk without the plus-money payout that the moneyline offers here.
Game-Total Pick: Over 184.5 (-110, Caesars)
Combined, the Magic and 76ers have hit the over in three of six Summer League games thus far. The Magic had two slow-paced games finish with 160 and 181 points before a 217-point overtime game against Portland. The 76ers contributed to totals of 194 and 193 before a clunky 154 total against the Rockets yesterday.
I am encouraged that both teams have cracked 100 points in a Summer League game. Neither defense has been particularly dialed in as both teams are allowing north of 90 points per game despite only playing 40-minute games.
My best bet is that this game finishes in the 180s. Hopefully, a few timely free throws under the modified rules will push the total over 184.5 to ensure a cash out.
Magic vs 76ers Lines
The Magic are firm favorites for this Summer League bout. Orlando bettors can take the Magic at -4.5 against the spread for -112 odds or lay -192 odds on the moneyline. Philadelphia bettors can take the 76ers at +4.5 on the spread (-108 odds) or cash in at a nice +160 line on the moneyline.
The total is set at 184.5 points. Over bettors can nab over 184.5 for -110 odds. Under bettors can take under 184.5 for -110 odds. The line has dropped two points since opening at 186.5 points.
Rookie of the Year History: Magic vs 76ers
Both the Magic and 76ers have earned three Rookies of the Year in their frachise histories. The Magic most recently won in 2023 thanks to Paolo Banchero. The 76ers won most recently in 2018 with Ben Simmons.
For this season’s cast of players, no Magic or 76ers are among the favorites in 2027 Rookie of the Year odds. One must scroll to No. 17 to find Labaron Philon Jr of the Sixers at ridiculous +16667 odds. Philon has led the 76ers in scoring in each of their last two Summer League games. Despite losing to Houston, Philon had 17 points (7-for-11 from the field) and four assists yesterday.
The Magic do not have a player listed in the top 30 of odds – they must make do without the slew of first-round picks they traded for Desmond Bane before last season.
