The affiliate marketing landscape is evolving fast, and so are the people navigating it.
Yogonet spoke with Maksym, Head of Affiliates at Moon Partners, to talk about what it really takes to succeed in tier-1 markets, how the network approaches newcomers, what’s broken in affiliate education today, and why the industry’s biggest edge isn’t a secret traffic source – it’s the ability to adapt.

What does a typical partner profile look like for someone who consistently delivers volume in tier-1?
It’s usually someone with a very systematic approach. They work well with analytics, test new hypotheses quickly, and don’t get emotionally attached to a specific offer or creative. These partners are very numbers-driven, know how to manage risk, and always keep several working directions running in parallel.
Tier-1 is a fast and competitive market right now, so what wins there isn’t aggressive spending; it’s stability, adaptability, and speed of response to change.
Looking at the past year, which traffic channel is growing the most in terms of volume, and which one is stagnating?
It’s hard to say definitively because the market is very much alive right now, and everything depends heavily on GEO, product, and team quality. PPC and SEO can still deliver great results and large volumes, but they’re far from “easy” traffic anymore and don’t perform the same everywhere.
Facebook almost always has volume, but the real question is traffic quality and long-term stability. Everything else, influencer traffic, ASO, UAC, Telegram, TikTok, email, depends heavily on the specific team’s expertise and how well they know how to work with a particular source.
Are there cases where a manager can already see that a partner’s setup is about to burn out, KPIs are still passing, but the market signals it’ll die within a week? How do you handle that conversation?
If we see that something is starting to fade, we try not to wait until everything collapses — we talk to the partner in advance. The key is framing the conversation correctly. Not as “that’s it, we’re stopping,” but as a collaborative discussion: show the risks, explain what’s raising red flags, and start preparing backup options at the same time. That could mean new GEOs, different offers, new creatives, or adjusted traffic approaches.
The core problem is when someone sees short-term profit and keeps scaling something that’s already falling apart. A good manager’s job isn’t just to watch the current KPI — it’s to help the partner maintain results over the long run.
How many new registration applications does Moon Partners receive per month, and roughly what share of them are newcomers without any proven track record?
On average, it’s over a hundred applications a month, and the majority are newcomers or people without real cases to show. That’s a normal situation — a lot of people think you can jump in and start earning quickly. The reality is that a much smaller percentage actually makes it to real work, because the niche is tough and it’s simply not for everyone.
What is Moon Partners’ policy toward newcomers? In the Western affiliate space, it’s common practice not to give offers to beginners, but they need to gain experience somewhere. What terms do you start newcomers on?
I think the reason Western networks don’t give offers to newcomers isn’t out of principle — it’s because it’s risky to invest resources where results aren’t predictable. We look at newcomers differently. They represent a significant share of the market and can become very strong partners.
But what matters is the approach: if a newcomer understands they’re entering a high-risk space, is ready to test, asks the right questions, and learns quickly from data — that’s our candidate, and we’re genuinely happy to work with them.
In terms of starting conditions, we offer RevShare or a hybrid model, because that balances risk on both sides and lets us assess traffic quality over time. Sometimes we offer a trial period with volume caps or more conservative terms, just to understand how the person works.
What percentage of Moon Partners employees took affiliate marketing courses before entering the niche? What’s their general impression?
Honestly, it’s not a very large percentage of the team. Courses are a relatively new phenomenon in this space; they mostly come through the door with newcomers and juniors who are eager to break into the industry.
In your view, what’s the key difference between an info-scam product and a course with real value?
Info-scam products promise that once you finish the course, you’ll immediately start earning big, everything will take off and you’ll be making millions in your first month. That’s just not how it works. They’re not selling knowledge — they’re selling the expectation of a result.
A product with real value is grounded. There are no empty promises, but it teaches you an approach and a way of thinking. Look for people who explain how numbers work, how to read statistics, and how to test hypotheses. That’s where the real value is.
The number of info-scammers in the affiliate space seems to have declined in recent years, but people are still losing money. Will this ever stop?
I think the problem isn’t really the scammers themselves, it’s the nature of the demand. It hasn’t gone anywhere. People are still looking for a way to “just get into” affiliate marketing quickly. The products have simply been repackaged and sold less aggressively. And honestly, the issue isn’t always intentional fraud.
A lot of modern courses are probably created with a genuine desire to help newcomers. But the market is changing so fast that information goes stale very quickly. What worked six months ago may already be irrelevant today — and that’s what often leads to blown budgets and disillusionment with the industry right at the start.
Will it ever end? Probably not — because as long as there’s demand for “getting in fast,” there will always be a supply that feeds it.
There’s an opinion that info-scammers are actually useful for the market, because they show newcomers that affiliate marketing isn’t a fairy tale, it’s constant hard work. Harsh, but true?
The logic makes sense on the surface: you buy a course, go through it, realize you’ve been misled, and understand that affiliate marketing is no walk in the park. But I firmly believe people don’t need to go through that experience to understand this niche.
Creating inflated expectations and then shattering them doesn’t benefit the industry in any way. A better path, in my opinion, is to join a real team as a sourcer or junior and build hands-on experience through real tasks and real cases. It takes longer, but gives you a much more grounded understanding of how everything actually works.
What about paid private communities charging $200–500 a month, where supposedly there are “private bundles” and “fresh guides”? A working learning model, or just Info-Scamming 2.0 with a subscription?
Honestly, I’m fairly skeptical of most paid communities. Gambling is a competitive space, but the paradox is that it’s actually quite easy to build new connections and expand your network here without any paid subscriptions.
Most of the information, contacts, and opportunities you need are already publicly available. You just need to know how to search, communicate, and not be afraid to reach out to people. My advice: invest your time in practice and real networking, not paid subscriptions.
If someone has decided to invest in education — what delivers the most real return: a course, mentorship, or an internship with a team?
An internship with a team, without question. That’s the only place where you develop a real understanding of the market and working with data — and the fastest way to absorb practical experience. Mentorship works too, but only if it’s someone who’s currently active in the market. Courses provide only the base, and without practice, that base doesn’t produce results on its own.
MBA programs are trending right now, and many affiliate influencers have shared positive feedback. What’s your take?
If you’re already managing teams, it could be a worthwhile investment for your development. MBA is ultimately about systems thinking, strategic management, and leadership. But affiliate marketing is more about fast testing and quick decisions — so for a newcomer who isn’t yet a team lead or head of department, it’s likely overkill that won’t translate directly into day-to-day results.
What’s missing from current affiliate education, both in courses and in internal team training?
I think what’s missing most is teaching people how to work with uncertainty. Most courses and internal training programs showcase successful cases, but almost never explain what to do when the market shifts sharply.
And perhaps most importantly, almost nowhere do they teach you to think like a marketer in real working conditions: making fast decisions with incomplete information, analyzing data, and cutting what isn’t working in time. That, in my view, is the actual foundation of solid affiliate work.
What would you say to someone who’s looking at a $1,500 course right now and really wants to hit “buy”?
Think again. Ask yourself honestly: what exactly are you buying — knowledge, or the hope of a quick result? In most cases, it’s far more effective to join a team as an intern, get practical experience, and learn from people who are already working in the market.
Don’t underestimate freely available information either — there’s already enough out there to understand how everything works. The combination of self-study and real practice almost always delivers more value than buying a course just to feel like you’ve started something.
Have you had cases where a partner came in with zero experience and eventually became one of your top performers?
Yes, we have. They’re usually people who learn very fast, aren’t afraid to lose budget, and think through numbers — not emotions.
How do you enter affiliate marketing smartly in 2026? The Moon Partners take.
The smart way to start in 2026 is to first properly understand the fundamentals: how traffic works, how affiliate programs operate, how creatives and metrics function, and what the economics of a campaign actually look like. Without that, it’s very easy to get lost in the noise and start viewing the industry through “success stories” rather than real work.
After that, get into practice as fast as possible. Even basic tasks — sourcing, analyzing creatives, supporting media buyers, or working with analytics — give you far more market understanding than most courses. Because affiliate marketing is fundamentally about working with data, running tests, and adapting to constant change.
And perhaps most importantly: learn early to stay calm about failed tests and uncertainty. There’s no stable formula that lasts forever here. The market changes too fast. The winner isn’t the one who found the secret bundle — it’s the one who learns faster, adapts quicker, and approaches the work systematically.
