The NASCAR Cup Series returns to Iowa Speedway for the Iowa Corn 350, where 36 drivers will spend Sunday navigating a tight short track and occasionally discovering that two cars cannot occupy the same patch of Iowa farmland.
That makes place differential especially valuable on DraftKings, and this lineup has enough of it to qualify as a relocation program.
Five of our six drivers start 20th or worse. Joey Logano starts third and serves as our dominator candidate, while the other five begin with an average starting position of 28.2.
The lineup costs $49,700, leaving $300 unused in the $20-entry tournament with $50,000 going to first place. That is perfectly acceptable. DraftKings does not award bonus points because your accountant is proud of you.
The plan is simple: Logano scores at the front. Everyone else goes forward.

NASCAR DFS Strategy
Joey Logano – Starts 3rd
Every place-differential lineup needs someone capable of scoring dominator points, and Logano is our guy.
We do not have to travel very far into the past to find proof that Logano can completely control a race on a short, flat track. Just two races ago at North Wilkesboro, he absolutely waxed the field, leading a career-high 323 of 450 laps on his way to Victory Lane. It was less of a race and more of a four-hour Joey Logano documentary.
North Wilkesboro is included among our comparable tracks for Iowa, and the model sees another opportunity for the No. 22. Logano is projected to finish 3.32, the second-best mark in the field, after ranking fifth in the SpeedwaySteve2 Practice Metric.
Across 11 races at Iowa and the comparable tracks, Logano owns an 8.27 average running position. He averaged 25.55 fastest laps and 58.09 laps led while completing nearly 86% of his laps inside the top 15.
Team Penske ranks third in the organizational ratings, while the No. 22 pit crew is the strongest among our six selections.
Ryan Blaney starts on the pole, but Logano gives us access to the same Team Penske speed at a manageable salary. If he gets to the lead, we have very recent evidence that he may be reluctant to give it back.
Chase Briscoe and Bubba Wallace: The Middle-Class Heroes
Briscoe and Wallace provide the combination of reasonable salaries, positive projections and meaningful place-differential potential that holds the lineup together.
Briscoe starts 20th and is projected to finish 13.27. He ranks ninth in projected finish and 14th in practice.
The model labels Briscoe’s recent form as “Hot” and his comparable-track performance as “Strong.” He also drives for Joe Gibbs Racing, the top-ranked organization this week, and his pit crew owns the second-best rating in our lineup.
Wallace starts 26th and is projected to finish 15.30, creating almost 11 positions of expected improvement. Unlike many drivers starting this deep, Wallace showed legitimate long-run speed and ranked 10th in the practice metric.
Across 11 comparable races, Wallace produced a 15.91 average running position with 18.55 laps led per event. A clean run into the top 15 would deliver exactly the type of DraftKings score we need.
We aren’t asking Briscoe and Wallace to win. They are being asked to calmly pass slower cars while everyone around them behaves like mature adults.
Admittedly, the second part may be a problem.
Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman: The Hendrick Comeback Tour
Elliott and Bowman start 32nd and 30th, giving us two Hendrick Motorsports drivers with enormous place-differential ceilings for a combined $16,300.
Neither driver was especially impressive in practice, and Elliott spun and backed the No. 9 into the wall. However, those struggles created starting positions we can attack.
Elliott is projected to finish 17.82, representing more than 14 positions of expected improvement. His 25th-ranked practice performance was disappointing and can be attributed to the accident, but he owns a 12.58 average running position across 11 comparable races. The model still classifies him as a track specialist.
Sometimes value arrives through detailed statistical analysis. Sometimes it arrives facing backward in Turn 2.
Bowman starts 30th and is projected to finish 22.33. His practice and comparable-track numbers are less exciting than Elliott’s, but his $7,300 salary reflects those concerns.
Bowman’s job is simple: keep the car clean, remain on the lead lap and work toward the low 20s. Anything beyond that is gravy, or whatever the traditional Iowa equivalent of gravy is.
Corn gravy, probably. I am not looking it up.
Daniel Suarez: Salary Relief With a Pulse
Suarez completes the lineup at $6,700 and starts 33rd.
No model is trying to convince us that Suarez secretly has race-winning speed. He ranked 31st in practice, owns a 20.64 average running position across the comparable tracks and is projected to finish 25.09.
The good news is that 25th would still represent an eight-position gain.
Suarez just needs to avoid mechanical trouble, stay out of the wall and pass the handful of drivers projected behind him.
His recent form is improving, and his pit crew owns a positive rating. Suarez creates the salary needed to roster Logano, Briscoe and Elliott while maintaining a realistic path to positive place differential.
He may not be the reason we win $50,000, but he is the reason the rest of the lineup fits.
