Fat Mike of NOFX

Legendary punk musician Fat Mike may be busy with the release of a new documentary about his band NOFX, but the bassist and singer found time this weekend to make the final table of a major poker tournament.

“Fat Mike” Burkett, founding member and frontman of the recently retired seminal California skate punk band NOFX, made the final table of the $1,100 buy-in Seniors event at WPT Rolling Thunder, a series taking place at Thunder Valley Casino Resort in northern California.

Burkett, who proudly held what appeared to be an egg in the final table photo, ultimately finished in eighth place for $3,000. It’s a modest sum compared to the millions that NOFX’s final tour reportedly netted the band, as hinted at in the recently released NOFX documentary, which Burkett produced himself.

The Senior’s event drew 75 players for a prize pool of $75,000 and the title went to Steven Spunt, who earned the trophy and $25,345.

Burkett, who lives in Las Vegas and retired NOFX in 2024 after 40 years of touring and making music, is a longtime poker player who did an interview with PokerNews way back in 2009.

He is a regular at the Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) and recently told PokerNews he plans on playing the World Series of Poker (WSOP) this summer.
